Player Valuation: £60m
Do you think this season is marking a major shift and an end of an era, over the dark side?

  1. If not why not?
  2. If so why?
  3. What do you think the decline could mean long term?
  4. Converse to this what are the implications for Everton ?

No they'll implode over the summer when a big gun goes....either Rafael, Torres, or Gerrard.

Yanks out and all that jazz. More protests. Rafael leaves. Those blankets will want Mourinho but he wouldnt touch the club with a shitty stick, neither would any top manager as they've got no dollar to spend. They end up bagging some foreign manager who aint all that....

By that time its musical chairs as he rebuilds the team.

Torres will go. He looks like hes proper pissed off and whinges alot.

If they are not buying merchandise and pretending to be supporters overseas, they can support their local clubs instead of pretending to be associated with such a club in Britain.

Can't stand them and hope this time the wheels are finally going to fall off.

They are just too lucky though. Something always happens for them.

i have seen a myriad penalties denied against them for no fathomable reason, i have seen penalties given against them (vs roma in one of the earlier games the year they won the uefa cup) that got rescinded, i have seen yellow cards change to red when their captain demands it, i have seen their captain get off an assault charge on self defence grounds despite being part of a mob attacking one man who refused to play phil collins and i have seen them get absolutely ****ted and yet still win the european cup.

in short, i will believe they are in the [Poor language removed] when they are finishing mid-table and lower, when torres has gone, when DIC turn their attentions to someone else, and when benitez signs another deal.

until then, i will assume that they will spawn their way out of this like they do everything else.

Something will happen to bail them out and provide them with a one billion cash investment or something.

That's why I can't get too excited.

This. They have a horrible habit of being jammy ba$tards. It is not the end of them until you see it in stone. Funny seeing their fans starting to cack themselves though

end of wot era...LOL

who are we talkin about... haha there era ended in thee 80,s wannit.. anyway not wastin my time talkin about those fools across the park... onwards an upwards for davie,s magic blue boys........... :D 1878

If you take a step back and look at the big picture over the past few decades you can see this isn't a blip or recent phenomenon. A graph of their fortunes since 1990 would see them worse than plateauing out and at times taking a sharp dip. This is as bad as it's gotten for them, sure. Apart from the isolated Big Cup win in 2005 they've been a third rate or fourth rate force for a very long time. A big club only in the sense they have a huge international following. For that same reason there's no impact on Everton. We haven't been affected either way by what's happened to them. That's in our own hands...always has been.

As chico says though, they have the pull to attract major investment, so I wouldn't get too excited that they're on the cusp of meltdown.

Already been said by others, I'm not getting too excited by the end of an era tag. What I'd like to see is the continuation of the comedy of errors. Keep Rafael, Comedy Gold. Fact. Guaranteed.

There is more pleasure in their prolonged pain.

Keep up the good work Rafael and make the place where nobody wants to join while you bleed away their disposable cash on average tat.
