Kopites Voting

The kopites that drink in my local have taken great pleasure in winding us blues up because they have voted in numerous web polls for us to leave the City and move to Knowsley.

And wouldn’t they enjoy the sport they’d get from us if we did move there.

That is why I would take these web site polls with a pinch of salt.

Although the Club are going to upset loads of true Evertonians because they are not eligible to vote under the parameters the club has set.

I feel the Club has to draw a line in the sand and make sure only Blues and nobody else has a say in the new stadiums location.

It’s a sad state of affairs that stops a fan voting because he cant afford a season ticket or can only get to some of the games in a season but the club has to be sure there are no outside influences voting.

I know if I had the chance to put a spanner in Liverpool’s works by voting as a pretend kopite I would, so I don’t really blame the reds for having some fun at our expense.

I for one am totally against the Kirkby move and would prefer to see us redevelop Goodison or move to another site within the City.

I don’t want to go to some soulless concrete stadium with no pubs surrounding it as part of match day for me is meeting my mates in the pub, enjoying the atmosphere and going to the game.

It’s a shame Kings Dock fell through as I think the vast majority of blues were in favour of that move so the very fact that we’re not jumping for joy with the Kirkby site tells you that many people are not happy with that choice.

I also feel that we’ll lose a lot of support if we move to Kirkby, if not in the first season of the move certainly in the seasons after that.

The move to Kirkby will ruin most peoples match day experience

Let them, shows their maturity

Every time Everton have moved, it has been to outside the city boundaries

Good, because we are under no illusion as to what they are. You know, I could edit the poll to reflect whatever I wanted.

They have to draw the eligibility reqs from somewhere, like your argument about online polls, what is going to stop reds from getting in on the vote if it isn't regulated?

I feel the Club has to draw a line in the sand and make sure only Blues and nobody else has a say in the new stadiums location.
They did. Around 40,000 Evertonians are going to be polled.

It’s a sad state of affairs that stops a fan voting because he cant afford a season ticket or can only get to some of the games in a season but the club has to be sure there are no outside influences voting.
Sad, but true.

So how can you be critical of the board trying to limit outside involvment. I am not getting an official vote, but I want to move and I am not pissed off I don't get a say.

I for one am totally against the Kirkby move and would prefer to see us redevelop Goodison or move to another site within the City.
Good. I am glad people will speak their mind about it. BUT, there is no viable alternative. We can't afford to redevelop Goodison, and we can squarley point the finger at LCC for making a token attempt to support us.

I don’t want to go to some soulless concrete stadium with no pubs surrounding it as part of match day for me is meeting my mates in the pub, enjoying the atmosphere and going to the game.
Can't speak for the pubs as I haven't seen the surrounding areas designs, but this won't be a soulless stadium. Those are the bowl stadium designs. Ours isn't. Ours has been designed to maximize the atmosphere.

It’s a shame Kings Dock fell through as I think the vast majority of blues were in favour of that move so the very fact that we’re not jumping for joy with the Kirkby site tells you that many people are not happy with that choice.
IIRC, the Kings Dock plans, while all glitzy, were of the exact soulless bowl-design that you appear to hate so!

I also feel that we’ll lose a lot of support if we move to Kirkby, if not in the first season of the move certainly in the seasons after that.
4 Miles. That is it. 4 [Poor language removed] miles!!!! Across a line the majority of people didn't know existed until some retard brought it up! For christ's sake, it is a line ONLY seen on a map!!!!! Go ahead and believe your statement. It is purely conjecture.

The move to Kirkby will ruin most peoples match day experience
You can only speak for yourself there. But, you'd better not go, because you might like it, and then where would you be!

I am sorry if this pisses you off, but this is the same stuff I see people write about everyday on Toffeeweb, where nobody seems willing to debate the gloom and doom team over there.

I feel very passionate about this, as I am sure you do, and I am not going to let 4 miles or a city boundary stand in the way of progress.

Kel, go to Goodison. Then go to Kirkby...

You'll be amazed. People have this impression that Kirkby is as far away as Wigan. Its absolutely ridiculous, other fans I have got into this debate with just wont believe that people are against the move because of 4 poxy miles.

It does'nt piss me off that someone has a different opinion than me.
Its healthy that we debate where the new stadium is to be,where ever it is I will go and watch the blues.
If for some reason I dont like it I will not renew my season ticket (which I have had for the past 22 years, since I gave up rugby) and pick the games I really want to go to,thats if I am lucky enough to get a ticket.
I dont like the way the club and in particular Bully Wyness has handled the move so far with his "vote for it or lose it" ultimatum.
Theres no plan B, why the [Poor language removed] havent we got a plan B.
Thats disgraceful, having all our eggs in one basket.
What if the people of Kirkby dont want us there, what then?
What are the club paying this useless [Poor language removed] Wyness for?

No,I dont have any problem with anyones opinion,in fact I would encourage debate on something that is as imortant to Everton as when we first had the balls to move from Analfailed.

Whatever the outcome of the vote, I hope if it is a no the Club will honour it.

Three words. Liverpool City Council.

Evertonians against the move have really disappointed me. Not just because I disagree with them, but because they are focusing their frustration on Everton, rather than LCC.

Danny I am originally from Liverpool and now live on the Wirral.
I am fully aware of where Kirkby is and simply would prefer to redevelop Goodison or stay close to where we are now.
Just my opinion and as such I will vote no to Kirkby.
As I have said elsewhere its not just about the game for me,its about meeting my mates, having a few beers and enjoying the craic before and after going to the match
Something else to have a look at have you seen the footprint of a site off Scotland Road that was in the daily Post this morning that LCC has identified as a possible site looked very interesting.
Almost in the City centre.

Was it proposed by Warren Bradley?

He is a proverbial bullsh****r.

Scotland road has already been dismissed by his own planning team, as have other sites that Warren Bradley has 'put forward'.

Fans need to start questioning LCC, not Everton. Everton will always have their best interests at heart, they'll always do whats best for Everton. And at the moment, LCC are not offering any kind of realistic alternative to what Knowsley are offering Everton and its up to the fans to question why their city council are not pulling their finger out to keep Everton 'in the city' but to be honest, why should they? Evertonians aren't battering an eye lid at LCC.

Three words. Liverpool City Council.

Exactly, Danny. (And I would add to that, all the moaning fans who want to stay at Goodison or in Liverpool but have yet to produce one single viable alternative which doesn't involve the tooth-fairy arriving and waving her magic wand. At least the Fortress Group had a bit more substance about them ;) .)

One thing that does piss me off about this debate is the attacks on Wyness. Since he has arrived, things - practical things - have started happening. We have moved to a new training ground. The website is working far better for fans overseas. We have grassroots promotions underway. You can actually have confidence that you can buy or order something from the club and it won't get mucked up. Our team (despite the financial constraints that those of us that don't live in la-la land know we are forced to work under) has been massively improved by shrewd implementation of funds. And now we have the chance for a brand new state-of-the-art stadium for what is peanuts in the modern world and which won't force us into the workhouse by carrying out the project. If nothing else, the man deserves a medal for those changes and I have no time for those who want to jump on the anti-Wyness TW bandwagon to make themselves sound "bluer than you".

Come on, this is surely just a joke? The man is covering his arse so that when/if Everton move, he can go to all his Liverpool constituents and say "see, I tried my hardest but they wouldn't stay". He has had years to come up with something and all LCC have done in that time is roll over and take it up the rear from the RS. He must be shitting himself in case the fans vote NO - that or else he has already prepared his get-out clause.

What about these new Everton academies set up here in the US. He has to take credit for that! Christ, he has set one up 50 miles from where I live!!

Why? Sure we might loose a few fans due to the move, but if we do get a goodlooking stadium (and if the pictures of the plans for the stadium are true, it sure looks great), I for one think that we might be getting more fans and spectators since we show the world that Everton have a great stadium and great fans. Also a newly constructed stadium will have better facilities and such that will make it more enjoyable for families to go there...

Also if the team does well in the seasons after the move.. why would the fans disappear?

Sure you might not be able to go out and take drinks just before and after if you need to drive home or take the looooong 4 miles walk. But I for one think it's a great opportunity for fanclubs to organise busrides or similar for those fans and I also think there will be some pubs springing up around the stadium for those fans wanting a festivity there.

We need a new stadium, and if the choises are to move the club 4 miles or have it stay within the city and with almost 100% guarantee indebt the club for MANY years/decades to come... I know what I'll choose.

Just do one with the Kirkby argument, its boring now. Its in [Poor language removed] Liverpool as myself, Danny, Jarvis and Chris are all from there on this site.

Until this ground move Id classed myself as a scouser and always wrote Kirkby, Liverpool on my address. All my mates from over the city class Kirkby as Liverpool. The redshite fans are taking the piss, as in fairness we would be doing with them. Buzz off them.

Has anyone stopped to think that they are taking the piss as they might be feeling a bit gutted that were going to move to one of the country's top stadia and generate income that will allow us to compete in the top four? Bottom line is that Moyes wouldnt have wasted as much money as Houllier and Benitez.

We have a good opportunity to move and not miss the boat, the Kings Dock would have been ideal - we [Poor language removed] it up. This one, although not as good, is the best offer were going to have.

Thats my opinion anyway, and it doesnt mean Im right, but going on about the outside the city thing is a [Poor language removed] debating point.

Hardly an impartial point of view then is it.
Just because you write Kirkby,Liverpool doesnt mean its in Liverpool
Kirkby is not in Liverpool.
Its like saying Wirral used to be be in Liverpool because it had an L post code.
So the Kirkby mafia on this site LOL,just joking, dont like alternative views from their own,so what!!!
I'll vote as I please and I'll vote against Kirkby.
The Kirkby arguement may be boring to you but a valid point all the same as you'll see from other forums on other sites.
Lets just agree to differ and see how the vote turns out,at the end of the day we're all Evertonians no matter where we come from or live.
