Just watched The Postman Always Rings Twice, 1946, great old flick with Lana Turner about a love triangle
The rather sexy Lana and her husband who is about 30 years older and looks like Sam Allerdyce. Needless to say her and her younger lover like the idea of bumping him off. Good noir this one with standard genre twists 8/10

Re-made in the ‘80s with Jessica Lange and Jack Nicholson ( giving her one on the kitchen table iirc)

Passengers: stupid love story pretending to be a bit sci-fi with really cheapo CGI. 3/10. Larry Fishburne have it a little heft for a wee while.

Ghost-Writer: very good old-fashioned political thriller. 8/10.

Independence Day (1996): still epic spaceships! Stupid film, but in a fun way. 7/10.

Soylent Green: badly dated in places, but good story and atmosphere. Got to give ol' Charlton credit for doing interesting films. 6/10.

A Star is Born

First hour was good, Lady Gaga was great and it's probably the best I have seen Bradley Cooper (hopefully his Matthew McConaughey moment) but then got a bit run of the mill. Didn't find it as sad as people said.

7/10
