Last Film You Watched

Just watched T2 Trainspotting on Netflix. I was disappointed with it when I saw it at the cinema when it came out. I guess because I was hoping for a classic like the first one. But watching it again I really enjoyed it. I think it’s a good addition to the first one without being a classic.

Just watched The Tenant, Roman Polanski film, really good psycological stuff, lots of mind games being played on him when he moves into this flat, get convinced people are trying to kill him, bit weird in parts. Starts a bit slow and your not sure whats going on at first, but well worth a watch, not as well known as his other films, seemed a bit low budget, which isnt a bad thing, I thought it was great! 7.5/10

Always liked this film - first saw it while quite young and it scared me witless. Any time I've seen it since it has always managed to creep me out. Really like Polanski & Adjani's performances in it, too.

Glass. Very average. I quite liked the idea of the Unbreakable/Split characters coming together in the one film, but the novelty quickly wears off and it soon outstays its welcome - was checking my watch a few times during the second hour. Sarah Paulson good as always, though.

This was on Film4 the other night, so it’ll be repeated.

Don’t Breathe.

Very effective physiological horror.

Three teenage burglars break into a blind Afghan War veterans house searching for his rumoured fortune and things go very badly wrong,

I really enjoyed this one, actually way more than Get Out (which I thought was overrated). They're not exactly the same sort of film, but I preferred Don't Breathe by some way. Good fun and quite nasty in places - think it was by the director who also made the Evil Dead remake?

Think it was the same team did both films.

It starts off like a teen film, but ramps up massively once they get into the house.

The relatively unknown Jane Levy in the lead puts a very good performance in.

Just watched Rumble Fish, Francis Ford Copola film, bit of an art film if you like, shot in Black and white with lots of great camera angles and framing, not sure I'd recommend this one, bit of an acquired taste, heard the book was good!!

She does. And Stephen Lang was good, too - something I haven't found myself saying too often.

Same director also made the recent Girl in the Spider's Web - which sadly wasn't anywhere near as good as this one or his Evil Dead film.

Used to love Rumble Fish - the better of the two SE Hinton adaptations made by Coppola, with The Outsiders also being worth a look (and the books are good, by the way). Matt Dillon is very good in Rumble Fish, and I always loved the b/w photography and Stewart Copeland's music. Might have to dig out my Blu-ray now...

Rumble Fish also reminds you of a time when Mickey Rourke had the potential to be a bonafide film star and Francis Ford Coppola still had something left before they both went totally off the rails in the 90’s. Apocalypse Now really did break him Coppola. Boxing and plastic surgery for Mickey.
