Last Film You Watched

Watched a few lately,

actually watched the Hobbit trilogy for the first time, wasn’t to bad. After the LOTR’s films I presumed they’d be a bit childish but they were actually more entertaining then I thought they’d be.

watched a Swedish film called The Unthinkable. About an attack on Sweden, the review said it was like cloverfield but it’s nothing like it. Wasn’t bad actually, worth a watch if you have nothing else in mind.

just halfway through the Man with the Iron Heart. I’ll watch the rest of it later on, so far really impressed with it. Gets into the nitty gritty of the Einsatzgruppen. Jason Clarke and Rosamund Park are excellent in it so far

Watched Stowaway. Very good sci-fi on Netflix, thought it was filmed and acted brilliantly. Very much a slow burner, but if you're into moral dilemmas in space, give it a watch

Watched it the other day and you`re spot on with what you say. The cast was perfect and the scenes where they were outside the space ship were just stunning. You felt like you were watching something that had really been filmed in space.

Unusually for an American film, they just cut the end " dead ", which I also thought was a brave thing to do.

A lot of people won`t like it though, as it`s achingly slow.

Watched House of 1000 Corpses last night, haven't done the films in order as seen The Devil's Rejects a long time ago. It was very meh, not really sure why it's got a big cult following, honestly felt like a university project at times where there they were ticking off a list of different shot types.

Glad they went a different way with The Devil's Rejects which is a much better film.

Not bad at all. Low (ish) budget German streamer, 4 person cast so very much focused on the characters.

Story of a 3-man, somewhat routine, Mars shot crew (i.e. they ain't the heroic first) disrupted by the titular stowaway. Sky-fy is medium-hard, more credible than Gravity certainly once you get past the unlikely premise, and actually that's handled well. Physical sets are excellent, FX ain't bad at all and limited.

I was initially unsure about the crew, particularly Toni Collette as the fair dinkum Mission Commander, but they come together nicely, and the story didn't go where I expected. Compelling and poignant.

Recommended. On Netflix.

Got round to watching Space Sweepers and loved every minute despite it finishing with a billion unanswered questions.
