Last Film You Watched

Watched an old one that had always passed me by - Scanners.

Decent watch, including that classic head explosion scene, but the lead actor was properly terrible and couldn’t deliver a single line convincingly.

That head explosion is absolutely fantastic. I absolutely love watching how that kind of stuff was done and made, the sane with special fx in horror films ( when special effects were proper special effects )

Likewise. I read afterwards that for that scene they filled a prosthetic head with offal, and shot it with a shotgun.

Yep, they couldn't get the explosion right until the end when they realised firing a shotgun done the trick.

There's a brilliant documentary about "The Thing" and how they had to do the scene where the head slides off the table. A real insight into the painstaking work that goes on behind the scenes and it takes a real creative person who can think quickly and outside of the box for people's ideas and imagination to become reality.

You need to watch it again mate.

Treat the first watch as an overview.

First time I watched it, I was really unsure about it, but after watching it many many times since, it`s up there with my all time favourite films.
Don't think it helped that I nodded off about halfway through for 20 minutes...
Do I need to watch the first one to understand it better?

Michael Ironside stole the show easily, funny watched that myself the other night, enjoyable hokum.
another one i watched was Deliver us from Evil, which I quite enjoyed Devilish caper with a cop and a priest as leads. Eric Bana starred not bad at all.

American Werewolf in London and The Thing 1982 are as good if not better than any of that FX rubbish nowadays. At least they try and make it realistic.
