Last Film You Watched

Absolutely excellent film!
If you like that you might like Dog Soldiers if not already seen.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280609/

Ha watched that last night, first time I watched Dog Soldiers was at the pictures with the wife, true this, there was about 8 people in the Cinema, then three couples turned up and sat right in front of us !
Couldn't believe it, they could have sat anywhere. Anyway it got to the part were the soldiers are sat around a campfire telling stories, well don't know if you remember, but this giant Bison comes flying down and everyone jumps, including me and I let out the biggest, girlyish scream you've ever heard. 6 heads turned round in front of us and I disgustingly said to my wife, " it's only a film". Quite proudly blaming her for the embarrassing scream. lol unsure to this day, whether they believed me, the wife still laughs about it today.

The start of American werewolf in London freaked me out at the time. It’s Rik Mayall in the boozer isn’t it?

Anyone subscribe to Shudder? Watched 'Host' on there the other night, it's about 55mins long and all takes place over a Zoom call during COVID lockdown. Basically 6 friends conduct a séance with a professional over the Zoom call and end up inviting a menacing spirit into their lives. It's some of the most suspenseful and creepy film making i've seen in a long time - some genuine hair-raising spookiness at points.

It's currently sitting with a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and I highly recommend, so impressive that they managed to make it as good as it is on basically zero budget and all over Zoom. Fantastic.

I've got shudder so will check this out ;)

It's unbelievable Macca - well worth your time (You can just leave it running in the background TBH, each film gets around 3-4 mins and then onto the next)

They're currently making one for 80's sci-fi called 'In Search of Tomorrow' - Cannot wait for that one!

Can't bloody put it on yet as the missus is all made up now the rs have won and wants to stay up to watch all 35 interviews of all the rs players, all the rs staff, all the rs management, all the rs pundits and so on.

Might be able to put it on around 4am lol

Split Second

One of those late 80's / early 90's films where 2008 looks strangely like the late 80's / early 90's but all dark, grim and metallic. Because, as we know, for some reason humanity decided that adequate lighting wasn't a necessity in the dystopian 21st Century. But bad suits and worse haircuts were vital.

Rutger Hauer in cool leather clothing and circular shades, Kim Catterall still growing out her Star Trek haircut, Alun Armstrong & Pete Postlethwaite being angry by-the-book future cops and some terrible dialogue. It starts off pretty terrible, doesn't get that much better but strangely grows on you. Very much a b-movie but an unusually British one.

Currently on Prime if you've got it - I can't recommend paying for it though.

Fury.
Massively exceeded my expectations. Its
a little hollywood on the last stand at the end
but other than that its very realistic, especially on the tank vs tank scenes which rarely gets accurate screentime in WW2 films. Great film. On netfix btw.
Dunno why I waited so long to watch it since I've actually been to the Bovington tank museum and stood next to the very same Tiger used in the movie.

Ferry - Netflix ( Belgium with subs )

Spin off prequel to the excellent Belgium detective series - Undercover.

Put this one down as a wasted opportunity, as it could’ve been a lot better.

A gangland enforcer ( Ferry ) is sent from Amsterdam to Belgium, to hunt down a gang of robbers, who robbed his boss and murdered the bosses son.

The fella who plays Ferry is like a Belgium Tony Soprano and is really good, it’s just the film feels a bit flat and dull tbh.

Shia LaBeouf annoyed pretty much the whole cast and crew by taking method to a whole new level, refusing to wash as though he was actually in a tank at war. Rumoured he even pulled one of his own teeth out.

Weirdo.
