Halloween 4

Seem to have found myself watching all the Halloweens. Considering it's four movies in this one isn't bad - it makes no sense whatsoever but meh. My main criticism though is that there are plenty of scenes showing the aftermath of a visit from The Shape but really not that much of him doing his thing.

I've a suspicion that from here on in though I'm properly in the dregs of the franchise.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3
Nice to see that they still make good Marvel films. 7/10

I've skipped the last bunch (the latest Thor, Eternals, Dr Strange, Ant-Man, Black Panther). Any of them worth watching?

I love Halloween 4! Such a good ending too, and it has my favorite Myers kill (the one with the shotgun). You're right about the next two though. It goes down in quality quite a bit until H20 comes around, being the second best in the franchise and containing what's easily the best Jamie Lee performance.

Black Panther is quite heavy for obvious reasons but thought they actually handled it well.

The other 4 are mediocre at best and very bad at worst. You're not missing anything in my opinion. If you want a ranking of them I would probably go Dr. Strange > Ant-Man > Thor >>>>>> Eternals.

Tony Shaloub and Antonio Salieri aka F. Murray Abrahams...

I'll never forgot watching it at the drive-in with all my mates when I was younger.

Bunch of naughty little stoners! But it was awesome!

The next 1970's movie and re-make that needs comparison:

Put myself through the Pelham remake a couple of nights ago. I wish I hadn't, though when I get round to the original it'll mean I won't have to sully it. The remake felt like a watered down version of 'Swordfish', which was pretty ropey itself. Who thought having Travolta tell someone to 'lick his bum hole' and then follow it up with the 'MF' swear was a good idea? Clunky dialogue, no real story, (was the stock market stuff ever explained?) Tony Soprano is not an authoritarian character, like in 'the last castle' (crap!) his chops were built for antagonism, the nastier guy, like 'crimson tide' or 'true romance'. What a waste. Rubbish, 1 New York Subway station stop out of 10. Avoid.

Have you seen the original with Walter Matthau? It's much better.

There's even a cameo appearance halfway through the movie from Jack Lemmon that gives a subtle nod to The Odd Couple!

No, there actually isn't, but it's still a decent movie. 😜

'Under Gore’s management, the plan is to invest significantly in Hammer Films to breathe new life into the studio, blending the nostalgic charm of Hammer with modern cinematic style and innovation, while preserving its heritage and library. A new slate of films and projects will be unveiled imminently.'

If this means the return of sleazy gothic horror, then I'm all for it! And make the old films available on bluray please!!
