Last Film You Watched

I watched The Campaign again in the train up from Rabat this morning.

Still a great film no matter how many times I watch it. Will Ferrell is at his OTT best. Some outstandingly funny moments in it.

Watched two crackers today:

Harry and the Hendersons (1987)

Awesome memories of my dad taking me to see this at Matlock Bath's crappy little cinema when it came out and crapping my pants when Harry pokes his head down the window of the car right at the start!

Actually held up pretty well as it goes. And so many boss 80's things that make me chuckle. The size of the kids glasses and the 80's station wagon with wooden effect on the side. Why did they do that?

Anyway a solid 3.5 out of 5 Championship Belts

And

Paranorman (2012):

Decent and very clever (if you like horror movies) kids film.

Would watch again.

4 out of 5 Championship Belts

Thought I would watch a couple of older films, the ones that other people seem to know and I don't.

Klute: Real 70s film. Pretty good movie from Alan J. Pakula and one of his warm up efforts for All The President's Men. Much copied since which is why it seems a bit samey watching it these days. A good detective thriller with Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland.

Stand By Me: Many famous faces from the youngsters playing this. I was prepared to hate it and it took a while to get used to the way the kids spoke but I liked it a lot. Growing up in small town USA on the eve of (what we would call) secondary school and at the age when many realisations dawn, the film follows some of the last days of childhood of a group of lads. There must be scope for a good British remake. Instead of the woods and fields of Oregon using the derelict areas of 1970s Liverpool.
stand by me is in my top 3 films ever and I've probably seen it 50 times .

Recently watched what I now reckon to be the worst film I've ever seen, Code 46:

I like trippy arty bollocks when it's done well: Pi, Eraserhead, Fear & Loathing, Donnie Darko, Blueberry, Alan Parker's The Wall, original Solaris and plenty more to recommend.

But Code 46 is to be avoided. Shove in the same darkroom as Birth, Cargo, The Last Broadcast, Eden Log, Sphere and similar utter shyte.

Network (1976) used about 3 clips of this for politics seminars so thought I'd watch it in its entirety. Good film with some great, well written scenes. For a film that's now 40 years old the message is very relevant today. Would recommend. 8.5/10
