stand by me is in my top 3 films ever and I've probably seen it 50 times .Thought I would watch a couple of older films, the ones that other people seem to know and I don't.
Klute: Real 70s film. Pretty good movie from Alan J. Pakula and one of his warm up efforts for All The President's Men. Much copied since which is why it seems a bit samey watching it these days. A good detective thriller with Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland.
Stand By Me: Many famous faces from the youngsters playing this. I was prepared to hate it and it took a while to get used to the way the kids spoke but I liked it a lot. Growing up in small town USA on the eve of (what we would call) secondary school and at the age when many realisations dawn, the film follows some of the last days of childhood of a group of lads. There must be scope for a good British remake. Instead of the woods and fields of Oregon using the derelict areas of 1970s Liverpool.
isn't Christian Bale in that? The big short 9/10
