the phenomenom of home advantage has always interested me... whilst many clubs/teams etc talk of their fans being "like a 12th man" in truth home or away advantage is surely largely physcological? We should beat fulham, 9 times out of 10, whether it be home or away because we are a better team than them. Obviously teams can set their pitch up in such away to suit their own game or stiffle an opponents in some situations, and there may be some advantage in familiarity with the pitch/surroundings, but it really should turn a fixture you would expect to win easily at home into one u expect to lose away. In our modern times of club dieticians, sports physcologists et al im surprised this is something that hasn't been focused on and eradicated from people's minds, as surely that is the only place it really makes a difference.
