Just seen an advert for a new pen for school kids, it says there available for left and right handed people. Whats the difference? A pen is round and the nib is pointed so what will be different with the 2 versions?

Excellent, maybe I can take my left handed screw drivers to the Dragons den now also.

I assume it will be some type of slight ergonomic twist based around the way your thumb sits on the grip. Basically, a gimmick to please the nutters.

I'll pretend I didn't read that, Reidy...

The left handed pen thing is about how your hand moves across the page. If you're right handed, your hand moves away from the words you've written so the ink doesn't smudge.

Lefties, however, move their hand across the wet ink - problem. Two of my children are lefties and both have had to contend with it. So lefties have to be a little more delicate in the way they hold the pen - hard for a 9 or 10 year old or younger. It's a real struggle

So the special pen is easier to hold without smudging.

So this pen might somehow make holding it possible in a way that doesn't mean the hand makes contact with the ink on paper, then. Ingenious. (y)
