They are miles better than we are tbh
Easily still the 7th best team in the league.

It's just that their best players probably because they have no motivation just turn it on and off when they want. e.g. Just against us. When a new manager came in and when they beat us in the FA Cup yet we won both league games.

Exactly this! Any manager that keeps playing and starting him deserves to be sacked. The guy fails to stay in position and is constantly giving the ball away and creating chances for the opposition. The team would be miles better off with a player who does the job for the team.
I still wouldn't mind seeing him in midfield. Currently I think he tries too hard when he drops deep because he feels it's his responsibility to make things happen but if we put legs around him I think he could dictate a game from deep. Basically doing what MS should be doing. Then we could put Gueye and Beni/Davies ahead of him.

Before today I thought/hoped the problem was largely (no pun intended) Koeman. Sadly our issues are clearly a lot deeper than that. Personally, I'n not convinced there's 1 worse side than us in the league atm, never mind 4
It's working out how to play the massively disjointed squad, Koeman has left us with. You've got to give it to Unsworth he has tried to mix things up, which unfortunately failed in the first half on Sunday. But I do feel we are just one good result from seeing our season start to improve, Leicesters new manager came at the wrong time for us, Also the unlucky own goal, we needed the luck of the Lennon penalty claim. We are better than them 4/5 teams but our confident isn't one bit of luck skill can and will possibly change it all (possibly the ultimate word) let's see.

Probably no next week, but in January yes, so worryingly we need to get a few points before then. Then it's over to the board not to mess around and get a striker in straight away.
My fear is it might be getting far too late by then, and I'm still waiting to hear someone put forward the name of this mythical striker who would sign for us and who will hit the ground running and score the goals we so badly need.As it stands I find it hard to see this team beating anyone,we've already had one Kevin Campbell and I can't see lightning striking twice sadly.

Good point, I know who would do the job but it would cost us in the desperate position we are in. Some wouldn't agree but the striker is the one that got the first goal against us on Sunday. He would hit the ground running im Sure of that. I like Dzeko,Giroud is ok but in the prem in a struggling team I can't really see them getting to many, IMO Vardy would.

Where's the protection for the defence with Rooney as your holding player? Rooney would constantly give the ball away as well. Like he did when United desperately tried to shoe horn him into the team.

Think by January they'll be safe in mid table at least, and can't see him coming to us for a relegation battle in a World Cup year.Which if we can't find a way to get some more points on the board is going to stop us getting anyone half decent in.

That is the problem, as much as Leicester would want to keep him, I'm sure we have the funds to make a deal happen, but would he come? Maybe if we were midtable who knows. I'm sure we will become good and be up there with the better teams, I just not sure how it's going to happen, but I'm confident it will.

The protection for the defence comes from Gueye and Beni/Davies ahead of him. It's up to them to win the ball before it gets to our shoddy defence. I take your point but I think Rooney would work well in this setup.

When top forward players age this is the position and role they normally drop back in to. Gullit, Pirlo etc

Ultimately he would need players who work hard around him and it doesn't help our striker problem so right now I would play him up front because he's the only player with a goal in him however it would be something I would be looking at in training.

The one big way it would help the defence is they would have a short pass (a bit like when Barry done this job) instead of having to hoof it.

I'm not a huge Rooney fan and I didn't want him but right now he's the one player with a bit of creative class in the whole team at least until Sigurdsson finds his feet.
