The ECHO (again).

Despite being tied down to a deal keeping him at Goodison Park until 2024, the Italian worked quickly with his representatives to manoeuvre out of his contract in order to open a pathway to take on the vacant managerial role at Real Madrid.

Bullet point 1.

Tactics were often dour and one dimensional, with a ‘defend first and attack second’ approach taking precedence.

There we go lads. More and more and more please. Absolute hacks.

Yet the actual way in which his time played out at Goodison Park, combined with the way in which departed for what’s sure to be a finite stay in Madrid, does suggest it was never going to be the fairy-tale many Blues had hoped for and in fact, it had the potential to very easily go the opposite way in the not-so-distant future.

Zero professional integrity and fantastically transparent in its bungled orchestration.

Not really to do with this but I saw earlier my favourite pundit, Tony Cascarino, explaining how Everton wouldn't have been able to attract James Rodriguez or Abdoulaye Doucoure to the club without the pull of Ancelotti.

Specifically those two players. A fantastic opinion once again from Tony.

Amazing stuff.

The odd thing is football rewards failures and the low-principled; managers, players, and leech industries like sponsored "fan-content" and sports journalists. There's no other industry quite like it.

Wondering if we’ll get a classic ‘John, 35, from St Helens has enquired about the vacancy at Everton citing his Football Manager success on his CV. The Chairman’s response is legendary...’
Not enough bandwidth to cover that story and what Holly was wearing on This Morning

Duncan Castles playing up the Carlo villain angle today on his podcast apparently saying Carlo had a list of clubs he could leave for free for in his contract and told his agent to reach out and say was available when Zidane left.

:coffee:

It's not just 3 stooges.

Great thread and work @orly - it should be compulsory reading for all blues.

The absolute state of the tired, boring, soundbitey claptrap coming from all angles is bordering on the farcical.

I've hated most of the journals/mouthpieces for some time, that are allowed to suck on the teet of the club and publish absolute codswallop 9.9 times out of 10, with the club's blessing, but they've all excelled themselves this time.

I think it boils down to this Carlo realised it was going to take more time than he realised, and more money in the transfer market than we were offering. That coupled with the potential young signings we are targeting made Carlo realise we weren't going to succeed in the very short term. So he got a better offer and left.

It’s like that in the movie industry , video game industry etc. They are labelled shills. A few got found out in the states a while back for making disparaging remarks about film fans not liking Disney stuff like new Star Wars etc , play ball or have access removed to screenings and actor interviews. Footy is the same in that sense.

  • Local journalist questions "how have Coleman, Gylfi, Davies, DCL, Keane, Holgate all outlasted yet another Everton manager? Maybe this spine (lol) of the squad is the problem?"
This will never sit right with me, no matter who they bring in most of these losers will still cling to the club like cancer.

Great example this. There is absolutely no way that Castles would have had sight of Ancelotti 's contract to know this, and for 18 months there has been no hint of such a clause. We can safely assume that neither Ancelotti nor his agent have briefed Castles so that means:

- someone at Everton, right at the very top, has leaked it to a journalist, true or not, which is pathetic, or
- it's a complete lie by Castles with zero accountability

It's manipulative and dishonest either way.

Fully agree. And you can see what will be next - "x person wasn't my first choice but I will back them" - the insinuation that anyone who doesn't is a bad supporter, rather than having legitimate concerns. And this bizarre attempt at suppression is usually led by sources (clickbait journalism, advertiser-led fan content) that relies on supporters seeking out comment or opinion! Then we will have a deluge of "here's why [new coach] is better than Ancelotti", "here's [new coach] connecting with fans / community", "former captain / player hails [new coach]". All been done several cycles worth since 2013.

It's a very strange one. The game relies on broadcasting rights to survive and fan engagement. So why hold the average punter in such contempt?

This is the article where he says we should hire Sean Dyche as he would help Calvert Lewin to become the new Duncan Ferguson.

IMO Tony's best contribution would these days would be in the field of concussion research, rather than active journalism.
