There's absolutely a place for him in that squad, especially with the lack of attacking options. Having a player who can play across the line behind the striker would do our options from the bench the world of good.

I'm not for one second saying that he'll be anywhere near the same level of player but look at how Kane and Rashford got their starts. Kane was about to be sold to Leicester for £700k the season he broke onto the scene because Soldado was so crap, Rashford was never meant to really play for United and was behind James Wilson when like 4 strikers got injured and were out of the squad.

Again not saying Dobbin will end up anything close to either but like you say its a lot about being at the right place at the right time. There's an open spot in this team that's there for the taking, there's no harm in letting him have a go and maybe getting a decent career out of it. Worst comes to worst he's not good enough for the PL but I think a lad with 50 odd appearences for Derby last year and a season of PL experience this year would be worth much more anyway.

Would seem unlikely to be able to go from a bit part at league on level to maki g an impact at prem level the next season. Lovely goal though

Dyches issue last season was us needing every point we could get and it not being the time to play kids, hopefully this season we can give them a bit more game time

He’s to play minutes, ahead of maupay.

Goal and assist class and he has always looked lively each time I’ve seen him play.

Hes even less suited to being a lone striker than Maupay. If he's playing it has to be left or just off the striker

A pacey option off the bench never hurts & getting prem experience should add to his value. Sad that has to always be a thought but we are where we are.

If it ends up he’s not getting enough game time reassess in January for a loan.
