This has made my very boring Saturday just a little bit better. It was meant to be a full strength side as well.

From SSN
Newcastle slumped to a 6-1 defeat to Leyton Orient, while Sven Goran Eriksson saw Notts County beat local rivals Nottingham Forest 2-1.

Newcastle's pre-season preparations suffered a major blow at Brisbane Road after being hit by six by League One club Leyton Orient.

Still looking for a new manager and a new owner, Orient piled the misery on the beleaguered Magpies who fielded close to a full-strength line-up.

Jimmy Smith headed Orient in front after just four minutes and they doubled their lead from the penalty spot courtesy of Sean Thornton's spot-kick after Habib Beye handled the ball inside the box

Joey Barton pulled a goal back from the penalty spot just before the half hour mark after Obafemi Martins was hauled down.

Orient restored their two-goal lead on 52 minutes with an acrobatic overhead kick from Scott McGleish.
The home side continued to torment Newcastle with Tamika Mkandawire adding a fourth two minutes later and substitute Ryan Jarvis added a fifth on 82 minutes.

Orient completed the rout three minutes from time with Harry Baker notching the sixth to leave Newcastle with a lot to think about before the new season kicks-off in two weeks' time.

None of the Newcastle squad wants to be there, the chairman doesnt even want to be there. The only one it seems that does is Shearer, and they wont even give him the job? I could see another Leeds situation happening here.

You cant read too much into friendlies in reality, after all we were beaten by Bury.
Havin said that they do look in a mess from the outside

Exactly. Let's hope it really does go the Leeds way for the club.

It means nothing its a preseason match. If it was the real thing I'm sure Leyton would have actually tried and banged a few more goals in.

A taste of things to come me thinks lol

Be honest, how many of us even care?

I care, where else am I going to get my laughs from this season?:lol: That said, it was a pre-season match, but if I was a barcode, I'd worry how committed the team were. After all, every match will be a cup final as every team would want their scalp. (y)
