There you go Danny, you got exactly the quality of answers you probably expected

Actually I've been on LinkedIn for a couple of years. Was really quiet until the recession, now it's a hotbed of people trolling for business in US and Canada at least, probably UK as well.

Put it this way: I spend way more time here than there - while I'm at work. But if you like, PM me full name details and we can link up fwiw.

Does anyone here use it? Its like facebook, for smart business types.

Naturally, I've waded in.

I use this for business networking and have found leads from it. Also made some interesting contacts via the discussion boards - word of advice, have an objective for being active on LinkedIn. Are you trying to get a job (it's useful for that...) or to make sales (ditto) or to get professional advice (ditto) or to meet interesting people (less useful for that I feel).

You read criminology didn't you? Have absolutely no idea if there are interest groups on LinkedIn in that topic but it's a cinch to find out.

Let me know if I can help. I'm currently reading How to Really use LinkedIn by Jan Vermeiren it's available from Amazon and might help you.

Cheers, helpful advice.

To be entirely honest, am clueless with it. Am sure if used well it could be a very useful tool. Will have to have a good look around what it offers - its capability to allow you to contact those in senior positions with ease looks very appealing.
