For those that subscribe to the Liverpool Echo or have been around the L.E…. What’s the general consensus on their coverage with Everton Football Club, Liverpool Football Club, and the city of Liverpool? Obviously, I am not from Liverpool, so I am curious about their general coverage. Are they biased towards LFC? EFC? If there is a better local news agency, who is it?

Thanks

It's completely biased however more than that it is useless as a facilitator of actual news and a disgrace to journalism.

I used to go the shop for the Pink (old footy Echo) for my Dad after the match but even that was sullied by a letters page with Tommy Smith where grovelling Blues would foe some reason write in seeking the opinion of a benefits cheating racist only to invariably be given a "bounce ball" reaction as he disagreed with every point raised through his bitter RS tinted glasses.

The lack of questioning and basic journalism regarding the administration and ownership of Everton during the Kenwright years will always be unforgivable especially when you compare it to the coverage of the previous RS American owners when they were making a mess of things over there.

They put Liverpool before Everton throughout the paper and on the front page, no other reason to do this other than bias and preference as by age and alphabetically it should be Everton.

My mate had a paper round and asked me to cover it for him one day. I picked them up, read the back page and dumped them in a bush. He had to go and apologise to every household but he should have apologised to himself for being a kopite tribute.

Why any self respecting Blue would ever buy it or even click on the website to continue to fund this abortion is a mystery to me.

The website is complete eye AIDS too.

Can't wait for the day it goes under, I hope it burns and they salt the earth so no news will ever grow there again.

Spot on, stopped buying it years ago, biased red rag.

…..once a daily delivery in my house, I gave up on it years ago because of their obvious bias to LFC. I never even use it on-line. They didn’t even try to hide it, using ‘Stevie’, ‘Carra‘ and ‘Rafael’ as their naming conventions whilst formally referring to ours as Cahill, Arteta, Moyes etc.

i assume they get global ‘hits’ for their coverage of the Reds so have no regard for Evertonians in their reporting area. They won’t be bothered we’ve ditched them.

I agree with you there mate, particularly the website.

Once you’re on it, you can’t get rid out of it, without completing starting again.

Michael Balls column isn’t too bad tbh, but apart from that it’s a waste of ink and paper.

I don't live in the area, but even I've picked up on the bias mentioned above, through the website. The unprofessional use of Liverpool players nicknames or first names contrasts starkly with the way they refer to Everton with almost a disinterest and indifference.

I refuse to click on their articles today - not just because of poor writing, but, in common with local newssites countrywide, because the pop-up ridden pages are absolutely unreadable. Its so bad that in the event I accidentally click on an article, not realising the publisher, that the publisher is immediately apparent by the unreadability. I instantly press the back button and admonish myself for being so careless.

Ita been so long I've never read Bally's column but he's always come across well in quotes I've seen.

Good lad and good Blue.

Whoever owns them, must also own the likes of the Manchester Evening News too, as their website is just as bad too - REACH.
You beat me to it - it's Reach. I posted this back in August.

Via my son's football over in Manchester, I spoke to an individual a few months ago who is high up at Reach, which includes the Echo in its portfolio.

He pretty much admitted they are advertisers under the moniker of journalism and broadcasting, and that their brand of advertising was not what he'd read.
There is a reason why they focus on the RS, and that's the money it generates for them through advertising revenue.

Someone cleverer than me will know what it is, but once you’re on one their sites, you have to shut everything down to get out.

It’s like their websites have virtual roots !
