Liverpool Losing To Wolves

Bear in mind Comolli is at NESV beck&call, which will make Martin Jol( and Chico) very happy.

Ironically....on my FM game, he has just been sacked, and they've linked McCarthy with the job, ha! Spooky.

I'm glad us drawing at home to Wolves doesn't seem too bad now! =)

If one article in the Echo summed up their attitude to both clubs it's that.

We're currently ahead of Liverpool just on GD, but whereas the position is not good enough for Liverpool and it's time for everything to change at Anfield, it's acceptable for us to be stumbling along from game to game (and now season to season).

I'm not calling for Moyes head by pointing that out, btw, just highlighting - if it needed to be - the different status the local media give to Everton and Liverpool. Never in a million years would that rag ever question whether Kenwright and co. were slowly killing Everton Fc in the way they did with H&G. Never ever.

Dave. Liverpool are like a media darling, they can't - nay WON'T see them underachieving, like I mentioned recently Everton are like the ugly sister, who get
A condescending sympathy vote every now and then, I need to find the evidence that were 2 points better off than we were last season.

Don't believe the hype mate

We were on 21 points after 19 games played last season, so one point better off. http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/09-10/reports/index.asp

The difference being, though, was that we had a lot of injuries in the first half of last season, so that was a feat to get even that many points (especially when you factored in European games to recover from). This season has been underwhelming to say the least.

We'll finish 7th or 8th though. No question in my mind. It's just not impressive, that's all.

Same reason that Sports Direct in Liverpool One has a wall of RS memorabilia, but not 1 Everton shirt in store.....

Verified that is.

I'd take that in a flash.

And whether we like it or not, that's the difference between the clubs. We ARE small time in comparison; hate saying it but in financial terms it's true. The reason the word "disaster" is applied to the Kopites over the road at the moment is due to the huge outlay of transfer funds used to develop that squad that is dramatically underachieving, compared to the "break even/stay in the black" philosophy Everton have.

Or, in short, we're "as expected" whilst they're "underachieving". Can't really argue with it - when we have finished 5th etc. in the recent past, we've definitely been overachieving, thanks to the excellent management of Moyes.

I wouldn't. I think it's a hopeless finish and not good enough. 7th/14th = same difference. Nowhere.

Well 7th is probably a Europa league spot, so I'd say it's a bit better.

8th - 17th is all the same to me though; complete failure.

Aye, but it's not a disaster. 14th would be a disaster. At least with top 8 we look like a club on the up, consistently pushing the big boys, even if we aren't.

I predicted 8th before the season began and I'd definitely take that as we stand. United, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs are all better than us by some distance, so 6th would be the equivalent to a league win for me.

Sad I know, but realistic.

Remember when Pepe Reina sprinted 70 yards last season to berate the ref into sending off a player in the same fixture last season? That player was Stephen Ward. Guess who scored the Wolves winner against Pepe Reina? Loved it!

Woke up to check the scores this morning...

Ah, my day was already awesome :D

Woy to go if they get thrashed by Bolton.
