Are they going to be that good?

Better than last season?

Barry for me peaked a couple years back.
Tevez is a hard worker but by no means a match winner.
Adebayor has one good season for Arsenal
Toure was not the best defender in the league
Cruz like Adebayor had one good season

I'm not convinced. I would still fancy taking 4 points off them this season.

Egos will get in the way.....If things get tough , I can't see them having a roll up your sleeves ethic to get themselves out of trouble. More likely to sulk and throw their gold plated dummies from their prams....

The thing about those signings is that they all have Premier League experience in buckets. They'll hit the ground running. I dont think they're City's future, but they'll get them to a level they haven't been at for a long, long time. The strategy looks an expensive but sensible one: walk before you can run. And let's face it, they'll get themselves where we are and never have to worry about a glass ceiling holding them back.

It's all a bit disjointed, and I think it was mistake keeping hold of Hughes. But as a strategy, their business will work out eventually. As far as the owners are concerned, it's time chuck daft amounts of money at anything remotely good. After 2 years of doing that, a team will form, the dead wood will begin to drift away, and City will be in the top 4. After that, the club will no doubt be more canny and sensible as to which people they bring in.

But I don't think it will be this season, nor will it be with Hughes in charge. But I'm sure they'll get there assuming the owners don't get bored. My guess is that in 2 years time, things will begin to work out.

Their transfer strategy was a bit of an odd one. Last season they didn't exactly struggle to score goals, their problem was keeping them out. Given will help in goal and I suppose Barry and Toure will help to shore up the spine of the side but I still can't see them breaking into the top four.

Sounds about right, Neb.

It cant be emphasised enough how much off the pace City are as an organisation. Who knows, they might surprise us all and break into the CL places this season, but imo a club needs experience of a season or two handling the pressures of maintaining a high position in the league. Look what happened to O'Neill's Villa last season. City aren't Chelsea pre-Abramovich.

Next year City will be a force, without a doubt. I can see many problems this season, new manager, lots of toys out of prams and stuff. They will still finish above us tho, not sure if they will break the top4 this season, its possible if 1 of the others has a bad season.

Shame it wont be us taking the chance, but at least our chairman is a proper blue, thats all that matters eh.

Carlos Tevez is a better player than any player we have on our books. 'Hardworking' doesn't do him justice at all, he's quality.

Adebayor is still a very good player, in a injury hit Arsenal team he still scored 16 goals last season. And he brings alot more to a team than goals, Arsenal fans will tell you that.

Gareth Barry is a good player, not outstanding, but better than what they had there last season and he'll certainly tighten things up alongside Nigel De Jong and Steven Ireland.

Toure I'm not sure about, he's hasn't been at his best for a while. And he's hardly the dominant centre back they need, we'll have to wait and see on that one.

City seem to have a great mix in there squad. Youth players coming though, expensive signings and solid signings. We'll have to wait and see how it all comes together, they've certainly went about it the right way, Hughes got all his signings in early giving them the best possible chance of gelling and becoming a 'team'.

We'll see, no real World Class players I'd say, Robinho is pretty close but attitude problems big time

Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Man City

No Arsenal on the review picture.....I think that's a little premature

Hughes surely knows he hasnt got long. I think they'll be a better team when the replace him and get in some more players to replace these one's they've just spent zillions on next season

I think they now have a strong Premiership team , but I don't think they are as strong as the top 4 yet , either in players , and certainly experience .
We only have to worry about them for 2 games , and if they can nick a few points from our rivals , it can only be good for us .

If we look at both our teams , I don't see a lot in it when both are fit regarding first 11 .
They benefit from not having European games , and a bigger squad , but I still think if we can get a few more players in , then we're in a good position ourselves .

It will be touch and go this season for both teams , but we've been there many times before , and City haven't , so we still have a slight advantage in that respect .

An injury free season , and I expect to pip them to what ever post that may be .

Shay Given
Pablo Zabaleta--Kolo Touré--Joleon Lescott--Micah Richards
Stephen Ireland--Gareth Barry--Nigel de Jong--Robinho
Carlos Tévez--Emmanuel Adebayor

Good team that, with options on the bench.

Tim Howard
Tony Hibbert--Joesph Yobo--Phil Jagielka--Leighton Baines
Leon Osman--Mikel Arteta--Mouranne Fellaini--Stephen Pienaar
Yakubu--Jo

Ours is better like, but half of that team is injured and we have very few options.
