A New Zealand man who called police officers 'pigs' has been ordered to spend a day at a pig farm.

The 22-year-old has also been ordered to write an essay about the difference between pigs and police officers.

The man was charged with using offensive language after he hurled abuse at police during a trip to Auckland.

Community Magistrate Robyn Paterson at Tauranga District Court ordered him to spend a day at a pig farm and present a short essay on his experiences, reports The Bay of Plenty Times.

According to the newspaper, he wrote: "I was very, very drunk. I have stopped drinking because of what happened. I have wasted the police's time and my time."

He maintained the word pig could be found in the Oxford dictionary and was often used to describe police.

But added he had learned 'that there is nothing at all in common with a pig and an officer'.

I want this kind of justice in the UK. Where have we gone wrong? Community service? Jail time? Wasting tax payers money. Get them to write essays! But who marks them? To many questions, not enough time!

there are a couple of police progs on tv from new zealand, bit different from here out in the sticks but the cities can be quite bad.

a guy who worked with me caught some scrote tryin' to nick my skyline, he set off after him and rugby tackled him into a fence as he was getting away, gave him a bit of restraining then marched him back, the police came he said he "wanted to register a complaint against the lad who caught him" the copper said "did he hit you " "good and i hope you gave him one too" to me. he got sent to a detention centre on an island that was some sort of bootcamp, the cops were after him for allsorts.

At least their government is concentrating on the important things.

You know, free speech as it pertains to your betters in positions of power.

Bloomin heck.
