Objectively no one can argue that he is doing very well. He had a pathetic budget but has instantly made us more solid all over the pitch, upped the work rate and improved the squad with some inspired signings.

Obviously for some his past is an obstacle they cannot get over. At least not yet. For me I don’t care about our manager being inoffensive or a great guy; if I did I’d say just get Roberto Martinez back. I couldn’t care less. I just want our manager to do a good job. And Rafael is doing that so far, without a doubt.

I was happy when we got him and the same now because I knew what he would do for us. And I think you would be hard pushed to name a manager currently in world football who would do as good a job with the same resources he's had. maybe moyes who coincidentally was the last manager we've had since benitez that I felt as confident going into games with him at the helm. But some would still tell you we should have got fonseca ?

Im not happy with Benitez being our manager, no.
I am happy with the work hes done so far, but thats a different question.

It can all change and I’m fully aware, but he’s set us up excellently and i think we’re playing great.

Hes gave us our identity back. We work hard, we dig in deep and in times of crisis (like today) players have stepped up.

This is the maddest thing, he could win something and yet still only get a very very very grudging level of respect. And I've said it before, that would be THE most Everton thing. The universe hates us, clearly.
