Nobody knows what the thinking wasIt was never going to be a situation where he solved all problems right away so gradual improvement should be expected. For right back, I think it was a situation where Coleman was still seen as serviceable while other positions were just plain bad. We also had a let’s wait and see right back in Kenny. The striker thing still confuses me though. Loaning Kean and not replacing him was just an odd thing to do. If the thought was that Rich would fill that, then we needed another winger. In general, I think he’s done a decent job cleaning up a pretty big mess, but it’s fair to want a little more.
Maybe they were afraid bringing in a ready made striker would hinder DCL progress
Maybe the accounts were that bad his hands were tied financially
When all the dross is gone and we are only left with players signed during Brands tenure then we can rightly judge him
Although I do believe that if Brands asked for a player Moshiri might question the finances ,but if Carlo asks then there would be no such question
You do not hire a manager of Carlo's stature and not back him to the hilt
Carlo may pick the player he wants ,or asks for a list of suitable players for a position and then chooses one
Brands then does the signing after Carlo makes initial contact
If Ancelotti is happy to work with Brands then I think he should be kept
No point in annoying Carlo unless Carlo has his own man in mind for the job
No one (not even Dave or Goat ) knows exactly how it works
But if Carlo is happy why change it
