No point sacking him now as the season is already over.

I just hope come the end of the season Brands actually has ambition and makes it known to the buffoons who own the club that Silva is underperforming and the axe is swung.

Sadly I think our club see 9/10/11th as acceptable and will keep him on another season.

I wouldn’t say we are going backwards, there’s a long term plan in place you would hope. The summer is when we will see those plans take more shape.

For now the focus is on growing the team that we have and readying for the summer.

The squad of players we have will have to focus on being a part of our future. I suspect some won’t have any ability to turn aroun their fortunes, but we have many that are growing within the unit.

Brands will have more scope in the summer with expiration of squad players that don’t add anything and additionally look to offload longer term players for what he can.

Splurging money now won’t make a difference to our season. It’s frustrating to not add but, the summer holds more hope for progression than adding now.

What's the long term plan mate? To be that would be bedding in youngsters and try it new things to get something going

Were playing old season pros who aren't performing every single week ie Coleman Walcott etc and not playing talented youngsters like lookman who has got ability and room to improve

No one sees it as acceptible ffs, and sorry but I didn't know seasons were only 20 games long and cup competitions ended without finals played. We've had a rotten month but I would dare say that by Feb/March we'll be fully back on track and if that's cause for dismissal then football is done

Let's get it right no ones expecting him to win the league. But we're expecting better than what we are getting

Keep hearing this transition and settling in new players and that. Who isn't? Wolves have jusf been promoted and signed quite a few people and they're outperforming us with what I would say a weaker team "on paper" with players who have never played in this league before

Settling in players j agree does need patience but where 6 months in and still can't beat teams like Brighton who are absolute dross

A million times this!!!!

Considering the majority of our fans think he's doing an average i.e satisfactory/ok job and our owners have history of daft comments like "what a manager" "expected losses" I would bet my bottom dollar that the ownership will be absolutely delighted with a 10th place finish as it keeps the investment fine until the cash cow of BMD is here.

I would agree with most of this, but not that emboldened bit.

We really should have seen more of some players - certainly Lookman, but also Holgate (certainly if we are trying a back 3), DCL and Kenny - and less of others, who despite playing awfully for several games in a row continue to find themselves in the starting XI.

Hopefully we can focus on our only January priority (signing Gomes on a permanent deal) and then have the rest of the season to bring through more of the younger players, if for no other reason that it will prevent money being wasted and it keeps what is probably the best youth setup in the country going.

I fully agree with us utilising the squad and not selecting players out of form. However the recent slump came against a run of games against top opposition.

After the Citeh result it would be easy to say Coleman has been crap (he has), but would you have taken him out against Spurs and plopped Kenny in?

Same can said for Holgate, the young lads to feature in the first team need to force their way in - we can’t just offer chances as others have had a bad run. There needs to be genuine competition for places which we don’t have anywhere in the team right now.

One or two signings in Jan won’t change that.

However summer brings opportunities:

RB to push or replace Coleman.

Baines is out of contract so a young lad to act as deputy to Digne.

Centre Midfield, get Gomes on a permanent plus add another beast to offer the opportunity to mix it up.

Zouma’s loan finishes, Jags contract expires and Holgate needs game time. We could see two additions here to allow Holgate to go on loan or more likely one beast and Holgate to learn from working with Mina and the new grock.

A striker to come in and really change the dynamic of the team is needed with one or both of Niasse and Tosun leaving. DCL afforded time to deputy.

And lastly the RW signing to add further competition to an area we need more consistency from.

We may not get it all done next summer, but we will be stronger once we have fixed some of those areas.

It’s then that we will see the real work begin with Silva in my eyes. He presently doesn’t have much to utilise from bench to change a game - plus his best 11 picks itself. We won’t grow until we have added a lot more to the squad.

Whilst I am unhappy we won’t add one player, I realise it’s a bigger fix than one signing can bring and I afford all my patience to Silva and Brands to build us in the summer.

If that was the case, Martinez would still be in charge, after all he had us in that finish two seasons on the bounce

Tiredness argument is actually a joke. We got knocked out of the cup and had no Europe.

It's a bit pathetic really. Using that argument shows an enormous amount of mental weakness. We all have tough days at work.

Nonsense. If recovery takes three days and you only get two days, you will perform slightly below the level at which you might otherwise have performed. It’s not the whole story but it’s a factor. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been in Europe or not!

The difference is mate Martinez had clearly lost the dressing room and we were in freefall. Had he not swung the axe we would have certainly drifted towards the relegation spots.

I dont think Silva has lost the dressing room (yet) so long as the players are playing for him and we are getting the odd win in 5 to keep our heads above water the board will stick by him imo.

It'll be interesting to see what role Brands has in this, does he have power to hire and fire like other DOF or is it still Moshiri's call? Considering Mosh appointed Silva and Brands had not input in it I wouldn't like to guess tbh.

Two players who I think won’t last more than 2 more seasons with us. I agree Lookman has ability, but he isn’t as consistent as the very inconsistent Walcott presently.

I get the impression Marco is working hard on improving Lookman and hope to see him more over the second half of the season.

So Wolves is the benchmark? A couple of extra points and you’d be happy?!

Instead of talking in tongues, be specific. What are the criteria by which you’d have judged Silva to have had a satisfactory start?

I agree with you to a point, however there are a number of subtle but important points if you're going to compare our situation with the likes of Wolves.

Wolves have been promoted with the same manager, his back room staff and a number of players who are familiarised with an already embedded style of play.

We have a new manager and back room staff who have adopted a whole-scale change of system and style, if you compare it to Sam and arguably Koeman.

Out of the starting XI yesterday, six of the players they fielded have been there for two seasons or more, while we had the grand total of four. Walcott a half?

Now I'm not totally excusing Silva and some of their performances, however we've got to realise that it will take time to adapt new players and a new style.

We've brought a large number of players in who have to acclimatise themselves to a style of play which may be alien to them, alongside working with new peers.

Things aren't rosy by any stretch of the imagination and I do have some concerns, however I'm mature enough to realise that we need to give time to embed.

If, say come the end of the season, we're still undermining against said teams and many of the issues appear unresolved, then it'll require different questions.

It's the same for both teams. It's a pathetic excuse. Brighton were hungrier and wanted it more. We were mentally weak and gutless.
