Awful, Team has no heart and are a soft touch. He won’t finish as high as Fat Sam did in 8th. Let that sink in.

Bobby finished 5th as the defence that Moyes had drilled was the backbone in his first season. Clown shoes then followed this up with bottom half finishes. Marco will do the same. Too easy to beat.

Apart from an angry Goodson last week that helped get us over the line, when did you last walk out of Goodisn proud of them as they put everything on the line? Long time ago !,
I think the problem is many people, even hardcore fans, do not understand how difficult it is to coach at the highest level. As Man Utd found out, and as we have found out post-Moyes, it was primarily the men at the top who were making the difference. The standards they set, how they prepare their teams, how their tentacles reach throughout the structure, all combine to produce the above average results. It’s not as simple as just signing expensive players or even just backing the manager. The manager has to be of a sufficient quality, and also have the motivation to push both themselves and the players.

So how do you explain Richarlison being poor lately, Gomes same, Mina can't nail down a place with *this* defence?
I'd only be speculating on the reasoning but it's important to remember Mina Gomes are new to the league. It can take a full season before players start to grasp the relentlessness of the league.

Richarlison is 20/21 years old. We had these arguments towards Stones when his form fluctuated. The reality is that young players don't have that same consistency as those in the mid to late 20s. Few do anyway.

We need patience and perspective. This was always going to take time.

Silva only knows to play the system that fits players of Barcelona or City calibre, who has not only dribbling skills but the strong legs n fitness to penetrate. Our current squad just don't cut it in this category. (Sorry that I thought they are on par with the top 4 at the start of season). Bernard has dribbling skills, but weak feet due to small stature and easily run out of steam and lose possession on longer runs; Richardson has end scoring instinct, but poor possession ability due to tumbly legs;. Sigurdsson- good on touch football but no dribbling skills whatsoever; Gomez seem to have spurts of good dribbling skills, but lack confidence when the team is not playing well (weak mentality, maybe the result of time at Barcelona); Coleman -totally should fit in the system if the old himself couple of years ago, not now, looks not able to hold on to his dribble;. Walcott - seem to have the flair in dribbling but have no idea how to use it to good effect esp ending; Digne- quite proficient but only can do so much with the other players that can play to his level; Lookman the only player that looks to have both dribbling skills n stability n strength. To sum it up, the squad is not good enough to carry the system Silva plays, and this is bad as Silva has no plan B.

I would also add, there is a big difference between the flash in the pan one season wonders, and the likes of Moyes, Sam, Fergie, Wenger, etc who can do it over the long term.

I’m no expert but the state of this is pretty clear in my eyes. I’ve mentioned it in the game threads the last couple of weeks.

We have 11 players on the field. We do not have 11 teammates looking to play together.

They are a group of individuals.

I’m not even going to list examples but they are all guilty of it.

I don’t want a regime change but Silva has to get them to play together and stop this individual crap.

If he is able to do it we won’t see two months of gash football.

That doesn't show that marco is the worse. But what is does show that we are going downhill. Next manager will get less. The next Sunderland
Marco Silva is not as good a manager as Sam. His style is dire, but he is a good Premier League manager.

Marco can play prettier football, at times, but I don’t think he has the same qualities the pie man has. Sam was actually quite far ahead of his time on things like analytics, etc.
