The so call tactic that you see is actually counter attacking Football with good pressing because we sit back with good defensive shape. Certainly not the imaginary master tactician that you seems to be confuse with. It’s just a simply old counter Attack and we have players more than capable to play this style effectively.
It’s highly possible I don’t share your assessment.

Purely on strikers - out and out strikers - let's compare us and the teams around us. As there are only two 'no.9s' at Everton, I'll use two strikers as the basis. These are lg goals.

Everton (total 6)
Calvert-Lewin - 4
Tosun - 2

West Ham (total 11)
Arnautovic - 7
Hernandez - 4

Bournemouth (total 14)
Wilson - 9
King - 5

Leicester (total 8)
Vardy - 7
Iheanacho - 1

Watford (total 8)
Gray - 3
Deeney - 5

Wolves (total 11)
Jota - 5
Jimenez - 6

Now, I am not using this as an excuse. We should be better.

We have players like Richarlison and Gylfi who are on 9 goals each.

However, the other teams also have the likes of Brooks, Felipe Anderson, Demarai Gray, Deulofeu, Doucoure etc who have all chipped in too.

We need to be better, regardless of a striker. But we also desperately need that focal point.

That being said, it would have been useless yesterday the way we played, as we couldn't pass a ball 5 yards.

Could the lack of funds / activity in this window be connected to Mr. Moshiri not trusting Marco in the medium term because he might not be in post come summer? Hence he is not prepared to waste any more money?

...I don’t think so, I think it’s the realisation of lessons learnt from the Walsh era. I reckon it’s a strategy now to get rid of the deadwood rather than simply add numbers to the squad. I’m sure there’s money, but players out before players in.

You can't compare Tosun and DCL against strikers who start every game for their teams!

Again, why is he a good manager?

Absolutely nobody has been able to answer this for me.

You need to keep reading my post underneath the one you quoted explained my thoughts.

If I’m honest think negative comments are very reactionary and reinforce a disturbing growth in shorter musk and reactionary approach in mentality among our fan base. Its become the norm and partly why wee we are.

I’d go so far to say, anyone who thought we would progress beyond where we are know was living completely in denial to our actual situation.

But such is.

...the truth is, we’ve scored more league goals than any other team outside the top 6.

Pocchetino's first full season in charge of Southampton, he finished 8th while playing Ricky Lambert upfront with Jay Rodriguez. Fully behind him having time to build a squad he wants but the best managers don't always fall back on this excuse. I just wanna be able to believe he knows where were going and what we need

Yet he got one point out of that and we can’t even beat the like in Huddersfield, Watford and Newcastle at home. And Leicester and West Ham.

Stating the obvious really we know the results. I’m not saying there aren’t limits in the team, are they limits of Silva’s creation, no.

Are we progressing yes, are we building yes, are we running the nessecaryanti virus yes.

Building is a process feather then an event you implelement your philosophey first, transition and build performances front there. I’d take our performances this season over the last two years if I’m honest.

And we could absolutely finish 7th. We're three points off. We still have the best goal difference of every team around us, which shows how inconsistent everybody is.
