I think the decision to replace the manager may already be made but that any announcement will be held back until a replacement either temporary or permanent is in place.
The last thing this club needs just now is to lurch along for a few weeks without a manager or even worse being refused by managers until we eventually appoint just anybody in desperation.
I think Silva is just not a big enough personality to manage established expensive Premiership players . I think he is intimidated by them and is always looking for a reason to get them back into the team even though week after week everybody can see they need to be benched.
At least yesterday if Baningme and Iwobi started instead of Sigurdsson and Schneiderlin the fans would have been completely supportive of the team, but including both and even making Sigurdsson captain just cannot logically be explained away when you consider his performances week after week.
Playing Scheiderlin just annoys fans even before the game starts.
But, I think these established players are banging on the managers door every week demanding to play and he isn't strong enough to put them in their place.
Making Sigurdsson captain is the most nonsensical decision I have seen in some time.
