2019/20 Marco Silva

Let’s face it Silva should never have been appointed in the first place. What our owner saw in a man who couldn’t arrest 2 alarming slides at his two previous clubs (hull and Watford) is beyond me. The man is totally out of his depth, it’s not his fault, but the hierarchy of the club that appointed him in the first place. If he is still in charge after today, some very serious questions need to be asked of the board and their ambition for the club.

I posted this in the match thread.

I think it's worth repeating here:

"We are seeing with Silva now, the exact same scenario when he was at Watford.

Did OK, then went into a potentially permanent slump before being sacked.

Watford claimed at the time that we had messed with his head. Not convinced. The guy is simply not capable enough. Get him out, and give Mourinho the money and the chance to turn this club around.

We are becoming a laughing stock! ..."

To blame the manager for this Everton team remaining the moody gets they are is ridiculous.

Last week they had the bit between their teeth; this week they get a head and lose the game after an atrcious decision goes against them.

That's player fragility

I’d appreciate if you could let the forum know what his tactics were when he brought Delph and Bambi on

because that sank us

Not defending him. But is it his fault Gomes makes that tackle on the edge of the box and Pickford can’t get his hands on the free kick basically right at him?

Is it his fault the VAR screwed us?

Is it his fault he keeps playing Sigurdsson? And going all out at the end? Yepp.

We won’t go down, but tactically naive yet again.
Yes it is. Deep down it is.

Well not Pickford , keepers are keepers.

But generally yes. A good manager coaches his players for entire games. So they know nwhat to do and when to do it. Pep had his Barca team passing and moving 3 steps ahead from each other. So they knew where to go and who to pass to. That's good coaching. Klopp has turned a meaningless team with the addition of a couple of players into a team looking like being one of the greats , already with a European cup behind them. That's good coaching.

Heads dropping, no away performances, defence not knowing when to tackle and when to back off, that's the manager. That's what he should be coaching. Gomes should know what his centre halves are doing so he can judge to make the tackle or not.

That's coaching , that's why teams are successful and most aren't. That's why the teams at the top or the table win no matter what, because it's ingrained into them.

So when you keep losing, it means you lack that mentality. We should be losing the odd game , we aren't a top team. But to keep losing them? That's down to Silva. It's always in individual error, avoidable goals , switching off etc. Always a pattern.
