2019/20 Marco Silva

Do you remember the last time we changed manager mid-season? The six weeks of flux where we remained terrible and backed ourselves into a corner where the only way out was to appoint Sam Allardyce? We don't have the best decision-makers running the club and, although their football might not always show it, the players haven't given up on the manager (yet).

If we can upgrade the manager, then by all means I'd love to see us do it. But then I've read some of the names thrown about on this forum recently (Moyes, Wilder, Howe, Hassenhuttl) and while they're all realistic targets, they're the kind of appointments I think we might regret.

So we appointed a Watford manager and hoping he is better than Fat Sam and that proves Silva is no better than him.

I think my position is basically ...

I trust Marco Silva much more with not relegating us or even coming close to a relegation battle , than I do the club to quickly sack a Manager and have a decent replacement lined up.

so we stick until he turns it around enough to win fans over OR they have a good manager lined up.

but those screaming OUT now need to remember the next guy is going to need time/patience too. And may also end up crap. There’s no sure thing or quick fix for the utter disaster of a club that we are.

I don't think there are many managers out there who would have done worse than Silva. I disagree strongly with your ultra cautious approach. Not relegating us is not the sort of benchmarks of success i look at.

If the club had any interest in maintaining standards and being competitive, then they would have sacked him after Burnley. They've shown they have no interest in success. Things won't turn around under Silva so we can get used to these continuous away defeats.

Blame VAR all you want but the team shouldn't crumble like that after one unjust decision. Absolute bottle jobs and it all comes from the wet flannel of a manager

Damning stat I’ve just read on Twitter.

Everton have lost 20 league games since the start of last season.

Liverpool have lost 20 league games since Klopp took charge whenever that was but it was a long time ago now.

Let that sink in. Board have to act now like they did when Klopp became available.

If our board have even an ounce of ambition they need to get Mourinho now. Otherwise just liquidate the club and stop ruining my weekends.

I just don't see how Mourinho takes this job with the squad we've got. The fella wants to win trophies, not scrap for the top ten.

Haribo Cup is embarrassing the others win the CL and a run in that is seen as something to be excited about. Silva can't put two decent results together. The only thing keeping him employed is that there's nobody decent available as a replacement. At least I hope that's the only reason.

That West Ham win was probably the worst thing that could've happened... we're stuck with him now and he isn't going to magically turn things around.
It’s not like the Hammers are pulling up any trees - some are questioning MP after he spent so much cash with so little return. He’s the third highest paid manager in the league!

if It is true that he was given three games to turn it round then I can only hope that the real reason was to give Brands time to negotiate with a replacement. Because I think we all knew that he wouldn’t win all 3 games as one of them was away.

Any decent manager would know not to play siggy.

To put that into perspective.

Liverpool sacked Rodgers for not being good enough after he failed to beat us.

We gave our man the rest of the season. Same as we want to give Silva the test of the season.

How many managers have we and are we still paying now? Mourinho’s wages will be huge and what happens if he fails too? He’ll have to be paid off too and we’ll end up going under. I can’t see him coming here anyway, his ego is massive.

Todays team didnt need to change. Why did it? People were crying out for the same team to start as last week and they got it?

We were fine until the corrupt officiating stepped in.

Isn't a defence of Silva, he shouldn't be near the club, but it's a defence of today.
100 per cent agree with this.
We were In control of the game until the penalty.
He kept the team from last week bar the Injury.
He brought on dcl who scored straight away.
He should be replaced. But not because of today. Because of the first 10 games
