Well it was a rubbish pass but why does a rubbish pass mean you need to slide in on a yellow?

Because if he didn't then the player crosses and they potentially score and it's game over.

He's always been poor, a plastic hard man.. but Jesus he was absolutely rinsed all day by Jordan bloody Ayew.
The one time he got forward he ran onto the ball took a touch and knocked the ball 20 yards and out for a goalkick.

Half of me is celebrating his red card. Somewhat glad his self entitled stupidity will not hinder us anymore in our remaining games.

The thing about Holgate is I actually like him and his attitude. You can tell he wants to win and isn’t afraid to get stuck into the opposition or teammates to get it. Mina has the same positive attitude, we miss it in the rest of the squad with too many timid cowards, such as Keane.

The problem is he’s utterly crap and doesn’t have the ability to play in the Premier League, Mina’s problem is he’s actually made of glass.

I can 100% see Holgate being a good player and captain for a mid table Championship side in future but that’s his level.

Nailed it. Or take his chewing gum up to the SPL. He is a competitor for sure and a decent athlete. But thick as two short planks.

Ah the old freeze frame of the match. Do you think he had the privilege of seeing the whole picture behind him? As a full back you absolutely DO have to stop crosses coming in. Especially when you're in a relegation battle and especially when the team you play in can't score.

Oh and ftr, I thought it a was very harsh decision.

Personally I prefer Holgate at right back to Godfrey and Patterson for our run in. Thought he did OK for most of the game. His original yellow was harsh

Do I think he knew where his teammates were? Yes, yes I bloody do lol he's a professional defender. He also could have had a shout from Keane or anyone.

I think a lot of it goes back to Dyche not making the sub. Its not exactly a difficult decision to make. Everyone knew there was a big risk of a red card.

Issue is neither Holgate and Godfrey are fullbacks. Both don't cross the half way line. Both get targeted. Both have been awful.

But he received the ball from Pickford just a few seconds before this. He knew the landscape of his half of the pitch when he received it and when it was robbed off him.

He should know if he let's Ayew past then it's dangerous but that there are defenders in the box.

Any smart defender on a yellow does not slide in there and give the ref a decision.

he is just chasing the ball here trying to stop him crossing not having an out of body experience above selhurst park. But i agree he is something of a liability
