hello, this is my first post on grandoldteam, to avoid being "pruned". just thought i'd give my feelings on the everton mancity game, and would to hear what everyone else thought :)

Howard - 8. decent goalkeeping, was brave in goal especially with his great save for aguero with dzeko trying to kick him in the face, unfortunate to let in 2 goals

Hibbert - 8. quality performance at right back, did well on the overlap, but could still do with a better cross. kept nasri out of the game, and put in some great tackles

Jagielka - 6. poor by his standards, felt he was slow to close down, and seemed afraid to stick in a boot, had a few moments of good play, but was too hesitant mostly and his long balls were wasteful.

Distin - 9. star player for me today, had control at the back, kept the ball nicely, played decent football, and even went on a few good runs with the ball, stopped us from being embarassed at times.

Baines - 7. quiet game from him, i felt he was missing any link up play (not his fault) and still managed to get into dangerous positions, had no-one to work with. still a bit slow watching the diagonal runs.

Neville - 4. Awful game, can see why he's been dropped. gave the ball away too many times, weak in the air, clumsy in his tackles, and i felt he gave nothing to the team. but i still love him

Rodwell - 8. brilliant game from him, man marked silva out of the game, and it showed the instant impact when he was told to stop manmarking, as silva was all over our defence. energetic, and untiring.

Fellaini - 7. great moments of control from him, and his strength holding up the ball was quality, just felt he sometimes found himself marking no one in particular.

Osman - 6. pretty quiet all game, and would have much rather seen bilyaletdinov on the left, i feel osman doesnt offer much on the wings, didnt link with baines at all, tried to play to central considering his role

Coleman - 7. typical seamus performance, took the game by the scruff of the neck, went on marauding runs down the right, forming a nice partnership with hibbert atm. crossing lacked a little today, but he got himself in all the right positions.

Cahill - 7. unfortunate to get injured, really put himself into the game, and put in good tackles, caused some trouble to old judas. had a nice header, the goals will come soon.

feel its unfair to rate the subs, considering the amount of time they spent on the pitch, but vellios stood out as soon as he was on with good footwork, and almost salvaged us a goal with determination at the end to battle between judas and hart, has to get more game time surely!! Saha pretty nothingy, but didnt have alot to work with, felt he needed to be a little less selfish, but his determination shows he knows he has to battle for his place in the team, he'll be back to leading the line by next week i reckon. Drenthe had some good moments going forward, but was awful in giving the ball away for their second goal, reserved judgement on him so far

Drenthe just needs more games to fine tune his sharpness and decision making. I think he will come good. Vellios' touch, attitude, and sharpness was very impressive. Should of had more minutes today.
