Mixed feelings about this, it does feel on gut instinct like being told we're getting what we asked for at Christmas, but then not quite.
It seems it will be a lot of fuss over nothing if Liverpool doesn't get the games.
Taking that into account, and with no specialist knowledge, I hope that won't have compromised Meis' original design. He has said it won't, so I guess I'll take him on trust on that one.
I have been impressed so far by his enthusiasm for the job and clear willingness to embrace the fans and the club. He might be just great at PR as ultimately he will deliver to specification but until I see something to the contrary I won't worry too much.
Of course the council would have to pay for this track, but as others have asked whats in this for Everton? Doing our bit for the community? I'm all for that but this is a sporting event that 10'000's will pay to attend - do we get a % of ticket sales? As we are already going to be paying the council for guaranteeing the loan, yesterdays news just seems to cement that fact that they are going to be doing very well from a development that Everton are paying for in full.
The biggest consideration though is that the track doesn't compromise on intimacy of atmosphere and proximity to the pitch. If that can be achieved I don't mind what happens, as long as we get 60k capacity too.
