James McFadden is aiming to be fit for Scotland's game against Italy at the end of March.
McFadden broke his foot while playing head tennis with Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta, but the striker says the injury was going to happen anyway.
"But it was going to happen anyway. It wasn't the fact it was head-tennis. It was weak and giving me bother but I didn't think it was my metatarsal, I thought it was just weak."
You would think though, that breaking your foot would hurt, but in true Scottish style James said he felt little or no pain and that even when he jogged on it it was only sore!
"I just landed funnily on my foot and heard a bone snap. I turned round to one of the boys and said 'I think I've broken my foot'.
"I wasn't in any great pain but when I started jogging it was sore. I went for an X-ray and that confirmed it was broken."
Although sometimes he takes some stick from Evertonians, this writer believes that James has a long term future at Everton if he is given a chance up front and not on the left wing where he usually struggles.
