Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, grandkids 3 & 4 are still on half term due to teacher training day so we are off to carve pumpkins, bit different from my childhood when we had to make do with sugar beet filched from the local farmer.
@anjelikaferrett the retro sweets sound a great idea, do they have any of those white “chocolate” fish and chip mix, used to be one of my favourites.
Have a good day, all.💙

A belated good morning all on this dull day here in Finland .I hope all are well and had a good night .Yes this Gaza thing is terrible ,I have a side that I favour from past happenings but as said above I too have no idea of the real ins and outs . I simply wish it as with all the other coflicts could get themselves around a table to thrash out a peaceful settlement but as we all know there is none . We must not forget poor Ukraine either it has been to long now and doesn't seem near a solution .I do love their spirit and defiance .COYB

United’s discipline was shocking at the end of the game. Something seems badly wrong at the club.

Great to see!
Spot on. @anjelikaferrett there was a lack of passion, but I think that's because of the nature of their current respective positions and form.

United look lacklustre all over the pitch, with very little to offer in terms of passion and tactical aptitude, while City looked comfortable from the off.

City didn't need to get 'stuck in' because quite simply they dominated the ball and played their own game, whereas United looked timid all over.

Personally, 3-0 flatters United. Is Ten Haag the man for them? I don't know any more, because he came in with a plan to revitalise a stagnating club...

... and at first he got rightly rid of some bad apples. But his signings look way from what is required! Yet, whoever comes in is up for a hiding to nothing.

United’s owners having to divert funds to stadium repairs rather than squad building will set them back another 10 years easily. They had it too good for too long and I have no sympathy for them.

Thank you, those words deserve far more than a mere ‘like’…..
We need a “ care” emoji as an option, I asked Danny last week if we could have one added, not quite technically possible at the moment but he’ll look into it. It often seems a “ care” emoji would be better than a like, particularly in this thread.

I think if Newcastle beat them in midweek he is in serious danger of losing his job. I know we play them soon. The way they are currently playing I'd be disappointed if we didn't win.

They don't have to divert funds. Instead, they simply need to stop making such a profit on the club year-on-year to fund either the squad or the stadium repairs.

The fact that they've allowed Old Trafford to crumble to the state it is in shows they're not bothered about the club as long as their gravy train continues.

It’s surprising that more fuss isn’t made about the stadium in the media. Had it been over the park it would be national news.

I was surprised how lacking in passion the Manchester Derby was. Not like a Liverpool one where you can guarantee that from minute one it would be 100mph, tackles would be flying in and there is an almost certain red card. Maybe it was because Man City were just too good.
City were fantastic, no doubt , but there is something fundamentally wrong at Old Trafford. I think we play them in a couple of weeks fingers crossed.
The reason that I want to see City pile on the points and goals is that in all honesty they are the only team that I can see capable of stopping Satan's mob

He got rid of one Portuguese prima Donna but made another one captain
He sidelined a winger that they paid £80 million for and brought in another for even more than he doesn't even play .
Ten Haag is definitely part of the problem.
At the end of the day teams have or should have a culture and playing style.
United's has always been to play attacking football with wingers. Despite this the manager sets up with a low block to defend and hit on the counter ...at home! I know it's against City but the fans won't have it. At least have a go and if you lose so be it.
Conte and Moutinhonfound that Spurs fans won't accept pragmatic football.
Everton fans demand that as a bare minimum the players get stuck in ( as much as you can now ) and give everything. Even in our glory period we were a very work man like side capable of both scrapping and playing decent football. Just ask Bayern Munich! lol .

No idea how United fix their problems but boy I am enjoying watching them struggle.

I think it if didn't have its capacity (just north of 74k) they would get much more criticism because their legacy and sheer number who can go brings in money.

Apparently, they still make the most in terms of match day revenue even though some parts of the stadium are becoming decrepit and the hospitality ain't stellar.

This is why the Glazers have failed to invest, instead skimming from the club's revenue for their own ends. But other clubs are getting closer and closer.

We're getting a new stadium and the RS are developing the pit (still way behind in attendance, but better hospitality and general experience).

The Etihad is far superior to OT, and yet they're continuing to build the attendance and general standard. Arsenal and Spurs have new stadia.

Chelsea have planned to, and I think with Boehly they'll get around to it. You could keep going down the list, and most others have, are or will improve their ground.

United, on the other hand, continue to let it decline because from a business perspective the profit and loss of the Glazers hasn't been sufficently impacted yet.

Good morning folks. Happy Monday. I hope you had an undisturbed night @peteblue and that you and Mrs Pete slept well. Loved the pics @Gwladysover. Autumn colours are beautiful. I might take some later of the trees across the road.
Doesn't it make a difference when Everton win. I thought it was a gritty, dogged performance- not pretty but who cares - we deserved the win. A far better effort than the abysmal showing by the England cricket team who were utterly dreadful.
It's Mr F's birthday on Friday. He's a nightmare to buy for. He doesn't read, doesn't wear aftershave or anything like that, isn't really into clothes...so I'm thinking of booking a weekend away for him ( and me obvs) for some time in the New Year that involves a race meeting somewhere we haven't been to. He's also very fond of what the locals up here call ket. And before you think I'm married to a raging drug addict, it actually means sweets. The kind of stuff my Mum used to refer to as 'penny rubbish'. I've got him a big box of retro sweets. Mojos, cherry lips, those pink prawny things (shrimps were they called?) all that stuff.
Hope you all have a good day.
Have you been to the oldest sweet shop in Pately Bridge? They do all sorts of sweets from years ago. We used to refer to sweets as “toffee” whatever type they were. Must have been a sign.

Karl’s thread is the go to everyday. Some of us have met before, some never will but the the place remains genuine. Putting an arm around fellow blues when needed but merciless slagging at all times.
It’s lovely to see the relationship that you all share, how supportive and understanding and genuinely caring. I‘m only a newcomer to the thread but thank you for making me welcome.
