Yo all, could use some help :P

I'm currently in the process of writing a very long and very boring essay on the Russian Revolution for my History coursework. Every time we use a quote, we need to use footnotes to identify where we got it from. Basically like you sometimes see in books, a little number 1 or whatever next to the quote, then at the bottom of the page another number 1 with the details next to it. Problem is, I have no idea how to do this! I've tried the insert thing and the little numbers only go from 1-3, which is handy.

Any ideas?

I think you'll find the numbers will continue for as many footnotes as you have - from what you've said you're doing it right.

it should do it automatically make sure numbering is continuous in the footnote options box and make sure "apply changes" relates to the whole document

you need to highlight the number, go to font and then change it to superscript or subscript depending on if you want the number high(super) or low(sub). That should work for all the numbers.
