Milan 1989 vs Barca 2010

Milan 89 for me also.

Maldini would have put Messi in his arse bin and Baresi would have smashed Villa all over the park.

And just imagine what Van Basten would do to Puyol, midfield would have been a war tho.

van Basten was very, very special. A real shame he had to pack it in so early. The scary thing about that Milan team is that for me they went even better in 1994 when, minus van Basten, Baresi and Costacurta (not to mention the likes of Laudrup and Papin due to the 3 foreigner rule at the time) they thrashed the Barca dream team of Romario, Stoikov and Koeman 4-0 in the CL final. Used to love watching them on Channel 4 as a lad growing up.

Difficult one this, but watching Barca destroy Real Madrid a little while ago, would make me lean slightly towards the current Barca dreamteam. That match was just marvellous, probably the best match I've ever seen.

Would be great, if we could really find out for definite though.

We need The Executioners Bong or Harry Hill to sort this out

I'd probably say the 1989 Milan side, I just about remember it being totally immense. But not a clear winner by a million miles

although the current barca team are still in full flow i think the definitive games both teams played were/will be 5-0 maulings on home turf against real madrid.

maybe i'd go for AC milan, they were mindblowing.

Mouth watering prospect that Bruce. How sexy would it be able to see those two teams go head to head?

That Milan team was the most complete team I've ever seen. Think Barça's pace is possibly more exhilerating when they're in full flow. Probably have to say that the superior defence of Milan would edge it

It would be a cracker. If you look individually, the two keepers are probably touch and go. I'd have Alves over Tassotti. Maldini is untouchable, as is Baresi. 'Maybe' Pique ahead of Costacurta but it's very touch and go. Rijkaard would have the holding role sewn up over Busquets. Xaviesta would get in over Colombo and Ancelotti, and Messi would be in ahead of Donadoni. van Basten and Gullit would both get in ahead of Villa and Pedro. So it's 5 players each with the keeper slot up for grabs.

Two great teams though and you'd think a great match up as they had contrasting styles. The Milan side had arguably the greatest defence the game has ever seen, wheras Barca have one of the best attacks in the game.

Barca for me, both great team but Barca having Messi just crowns it for me, he will be remembered in the same breath as Pele and Maradonna as good as Gullit and Van Basten were their just under that exalted company.

*Though Barca defence are rubbish.
