As a casual viewer last night was entertaining however it also reminded me of elements of MMA that I just cant get down with

1. Elbows, how is that even allowed ? Its so grim
2. The complete lack of fecks given by the commentators and also McCann about the girl seemingly lying dead in the middle of the ring motionless for 5 minutes. Feel like in other sports there would be a lot more concern voiced but instead they just kept showing replays of it over and over whilst she was still fully unconscious.
3. Zero updates afterwards about the girls condition

I probably sound like a beta here in the eyes of the big manly man alpha daddies but not arsed.

No mate your spot on with McCann celebrating like that and carrying it on in the ring when the girl was in such a bad way. Very poor show that.

I get your reasons for finding parts of it a bit distasteful. I completely respect them, I think with MMA for me both parties know the rules when they step into the octagon/ring. That doesn’t detract from the brutality of it and I get elements of it aren't for everyone. One thing I will say about MMA though over boxing is the respect in the sport. Of course you get it in boxing and trash talk/beefs happen in MMA but in general you see a lot more mutual respect in something like UFC between the fighters.

A good example of this is when Khabib fought Justin Gaethje. Got him in an arm bar, could have broken his arm then decided to flip to a choke hold to put him to sleep. After the fight they asked Khabib why he changed his submission mid fight and his answer was that Gaethje’s mum
was in the crowd, he knew Gaethje would never tap and would have let his arm be broken so wanted to put him out rather then hurt him badly in front of his mum.

Both finishes are brutal but that’s the nature of combat sports I suppose. I have the upmost respect for anyone willing to put themselves in that situation especially to put food on the table. There’s easier ways to make a living
