Yep, he really did, bizarrely so. How can you play football all your life and totally cock up your instruction (language aside). It was quite weird to watch tbh

He would still offer as much as Oumar though

He didn't though, that was the point. Niasse came on and put their defenders under pressure, Maguire was getting far too comfortable playing out of defence before that and they were easily going down our right hand side. If he doesnt change it there is a big chance that we lose that game at the end (wouldn't be the first time...)

I watched his 18 minutes on the ground again this afternoon. It's difficult to judge on TV because he was off camera for most of it, but I thought he did OK
in the first half of his cameo but looked puffed out and was as slow as in the minutes before he was taken off. If he isn't fit enough to see out 20 minutes
why not? I hear people talking about players not being 'match fit', but how can you be when you don't play for weeks on end. They used to play in the
reserves once, but not in the Under 23's now. Whose idea was that?

I didn't really watch Niasse tbh,I know he will run himself ragged though. The amount of times we have left players on recently when gassed, Davies the other week for instance, I was just surprised at how Dunc handled this, it was not professional imo, at least acknowledge him when he comes off, totally blanking him is weird.

He looks so lost and confused when he trudged off, it was ABSOLUTELY the wrong thing to do. Yes, he was having a shocker but that just seemed too reactionary and old fashioned.

Dunc would have all that on tape and could have sat down with him this week and laid into him as he showed him what he was doing wrong.

Feels like Victorian style discipline imo, you're not in Barlinnie now mate.
Having a 2-1 defeat on tape would not have been very helpful

Not good when you've made

It is bizare. Even players coming back from injury and starting. Often say given them 60/70 mins then take them off. He's 19. He's coming on when those already on the pitch should be feeling it and fresh legs should have the advantage. But it looked the opposite. He clearly trains all week. So match fitness i get. 20 minutes and looking puffed out. I dont.

Like I said earlier, the first 5 minutes are often the hardest but your power of recovery should kick in quite quickly and your'e good to go for at least an hour, and that is at my level of football. For a pro international at 19 years old, there is no way he would be blowing like that for long.

Very strange

It was like watching a sunday league player that had been out the night before, rocked up at 10.50am so you lob him on the bench. Bring him on second half and he's blowing after 10 mins needing to come off again

Match fit in that sense is a bit of a misnomer. Players should be 'fit' in the sense that they can go out and play for 90 minutes, because you can do all sorts of training drills to replicate your movements over that time, you don't need to actually play. Usually match fit would be better described as match sharp, it's your touch and awareness that can suffer when you've not been playing, and mental fatigue can set in after a while as you're not used to having to be switched on for so long.

Yes, that's what match fit means. Match fit, match sharp, same thing.

Well no, I've literally just explained that to you. You said he looked puffed out and asked how he could be match fit without playing. I'm saying you don't need to play to be fit enough not to be puffed out after 20 minutes on the pitch. Cardio fitness is nothing to do with being match fit.

I don't think it is that weird to be honest, there was a minute to go and the game was still going on, Ferguson was focusing on what was happening on the pitch. I'm sure he dealt with it afterwards.
