2020/21 Moise Kean

That's a bit black and white mate. IMO he didn't settle, was expecting to play every week and that's why he has gone. I'm all for getting rid of players when they don't want to stay. He is a potential big talent and whether he realises that potential only time will tell. A few years ago when DCL was the same age people were writing him off (that was still happening until the start of this season), I think we forget that players aren't the finished article at 19, 20, 21 and there is plenty of development to come. That comes down to the player and if they want to knuckle down and do the hard work or take the easy way out.
I don't think we'll see him in a blue shirt again which I'm disappointed about as he could be a huge talent, but sometimes transfers don't work out no matter how good players are. We move on hopefully with a tidy profit.

....he did not settle; he was too young; he was played in the wrong position; he was played in the wrong system; he wasn’t given a run of games; Ferguson shouldn’t have ‘subbed the sub’ etc.

There’s probably more excuses that have slipped my mind. Nobody expected the finished article, but the bottom line is he was ineffective and offered very little.

I think Moise Kean is obviously a talented player. But I don't think he'll ever be good in the Premier league until he changes his attitude. Whether that's his own confidence or the Balotteli in him.

...he didn’t get too many chances because he failed to perform. if he had a positive impact then he’d still be very much involved, if he’d had a positive impact he wouldn’t be at PSG.

We moved our only conventional back-up striker on because he wasn’t very good. There should be no excuses.
If when DCL was trying to break into the team, we'd had anything resembling a reliable striker up front, he wouldn't have got the amount of opportunities he ended up having, and we wouldn't be reaping the benefits now.
People would probably be saying the same about Dom. That he didn't do enough to force the managers hand and that there should be no excuses.

The difference is that Dom has worked his socks off in training and on the pitch. He is Everton. The training staff told him what he needed to work on and he did it. The effort has been there and he looks like he's wanted to play for us from day 1.

If Ancelotti, a fellow Italian who wanted to buy Kean at Napoli doesn't mind him going to PSG. Then you know something is up. It was like he just went through the motions with us.

Dom wasnt amazing last year but his effort alone kept Kean out.

You are being overly harsh on him for some reason Eggs, which isn't like you at all.

Very very few players have achieved a high level of performance in the Premier League before they were 20. Many have also come with a high price tag.

He is now 20. He scored goals in each of the last 3 games he played for us. He's made the last 2 Italian International squads. Clubs of the International standing of Juventus and PSG wanted to sign him and he's played in PSGs last 3 games scoring twice.

It didn't work out for him last season for whatever reason. All those "excuses" as you call them can be perfectly valid when applied to teenagers and there's no reason why Kean should not be given the same allowances.

The kopite Souness called him out as a wrong 'un before he'd kicked a ball here. Let's hope he's wrong. The lad has a great opportunity at PSG working with some world class players and fingers crossed he rises to the challenge

He's still Everton's asset and hopefully he'll come back to us a much better player or we'll turn a nice profit on him that we can use to buy a suitable replacement

I don’t think he will ever make it in the PL where the pace is so high and your touch needs to be spot on. In other leagues he might get away with it more especially at PSG where he will be in a dominant side.

...i desperately want the lad to succeed, Fred. Nobody is expecting the finished article but we saw signs with DCL, just as we see signs with Gordon that they had/have something. Despite both being raw, they were able to come in when asked and provide something for the cause. They both did a job for their manager, they both did a job for their team mates and they both did a job for the team.

There are very few signs (to me) that Kean can offer much at this stage. I’d hope his physicality and quality would be ideal for cameo performance from the bench when we really need it, but I don’t feel he’ll make a difference when he’s introduced. It’s a moot point that Simms could be no worst.

I’m very interested how Kean does at PSG. He’s a full Italian international, so i imagine the quality is there but I can’t get away from the fact he offered very little for us.

Fair enough Eggs

I actually think he has shown signs. at least as much as Gordon and more than Dom at the same age.

My personal view is that the main problem with Kean is the expectation level that came with the price tag.

Those calling out his work rate do have a point. But you also have to factor in his physique and that stamina improves with age.

He was probably promised more time than he was given but DCL's stock has just rocketed ship into mars since Kean arrived, Now he starts straight away for PSG, He's not coming back here tbh.

.....there was one game at the end of last season where there were signs, but even taking all the excuses he hasn’t been effective. I’d have thought he’d be ideal for us coming off the bench but I doubt any of us think he’s a genuine potent threat that could turn a game.

Anyway, he’s not here to help our cause so we watch with interest from afar.
