Move Over Steve Round - I'm the New Tactician !!! -- THT

Someone said that after the West Brom game and having watched it again, it was complete and utter bollocks, and just shows you how certain sections of our support will make up things to drive a player out of the club. Embarassing really, but not surprising.

It just seems very Matt Damon esque criticism to me. He's had a number of niggling injuries, there was even a report in the Dutch press about him going to see a specialist about something. None of that gets taken into consideration, it didn't even get a mention. The fact that he was going off with cramp tells me it's a physical thing. Lets not forget that he had a similar problem when he first joined the club, so his supposed 'bad attitude' isn't a definite in my eyes.

That, and he's playing out of position, a position he has very limited experience in when you look at his career. He played well there when Arteta was flying alongside him, but that hasn't been the case this season, and he's clearly struggled. He's been poor, there's no getting away from that, I certainly don't want him in our starting eleven at present, but to make him out to be this definite, ultimate snide going by rumours on internet forums is madness in my opinion. The same people will tell you Arteta (this season) and Cahill (last season) aren't arsed, two of the most honest, hardworking players we have at the club - a player like Heitinga hasn't got a chance really.

Why would any player embarrass themselves and purposely play poorly to get a move? It just doesn't make sense to me. I think there's a major difference between someone struggling and someone who isn't arsed at all. I think back to the last Stoke game where he was much better in terms of performance. What, did he decide that was it? I'll have a good game and then stop trying again...

He's not playing purposely badly. He just doesn't look at all interested.

I guess a lot of that is up for interpretation; you call it post-world cup tiredness, or playing out of position. You're definitely at least partly right, but as the sourced up folk have said, he's pining for a move elsewhere. Surely, putting two and two together, you can see why he could be accused of not being bothered?

There is some truth in that...I don't think he's saying I'm going to be [Poor language removed] today but once 10% desire goes then the edge goes and that's what often drives these players. Johnny ain't silky skills man is he ? He's about steel, yes he can pick a pass but he relies on battling through then using a bit of craft but if the desire ain't up to full steam then you get found out a bit in the Premier League.

Me and LCAB were saying this before that maybe we need to break up this side a bit and give it a bit more bite. We've undoubtedly got a talented squad but are not getting enough out of them. The balance aint great so a couple of additions would be great but it comes down to cash. If we sold say Heitinga, Yak (I don't want him to go but think he will) and Vaughan then we could maybe add a couple to change the dynamics of the team. We'll have to wait and see though mate.

Indeedy.

On that thought, got to re-iterate something I've said before - Roque Santa Cruz on loan would probably be the best short term signing we've made since Kevin Campbell, for the reasons stated before.

I'm starting to develop a shopping list now xD

Would love Santa Cruz but we'd still need to play someone with him. He's a good target man and scores but doesn't have any pace so could be isolated at times. But yes he's a step in the right direction. Crosses Fingers !!!

Think it needs to happen. Its all in the dynamics and if certain players are hampering that then he needs to make the change.

Me and you both agree though Kenwright needs to ensure he has the money to do it!

Beckford = Jeffers.
Santa Cruz = Campbell.

Let the good times roll ;)

You know what's noticable? How the [Poor language removed] isn't giving interviews to Sky Sports News and co. at the moment.

Watch this space my arse.

This is maybe how we need to address our 'problems'.. it starts at 01.40mins in . :D

My thoughts on Santa Cruz are well documented (read: I think he makes [Poor language removed] look like gold), but I'd welcome any change at all at this point.

I would like to see Anichebe partner Beckford though. Strength and pace, in a formation to suit the latter, and possibly allow him to replicate his goalscoring form of old.
