Moyes blasts cup officials

Toffees boss fumes at busy schedule

David Moyes has slammed Carling Cup organisers for showing his Everton side a 'lack of respect'.

The Toffees have reached the fourth round of the knockout competition, where they are set to come up against top flight rivals Tottenham.

That clash has been set for next Tuesday, despite Everton being involved in European and domestic action before then.

Moyes' men face Benfica in the Europa League on Thursday and Bolton in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Scottish coach therefore feels that his team should have been given an extra day in which to recuperate before being forced back into competitive action.

He has blasted the decision to allow Arsenal and Liverpool to play on the Wednesday night, in order for the game to be televised, and feels the Carling Cup is undermining its own standing within the game with their refusal to adopt a sensible approach to their scheduling.

Support

"My philosophy has always been to try and put our best teams in whatever competition we enter, but I find the lack of respect we have been shown by the Carling Cup organisers really disappointing," said Moyes.

"We have been asked to play Tottenham at White Hart Lane on a Tuesday night after playing the previous Thursday and Sunday at Benfica and Bolton.

"I am aware that other clubs will have a similar scenario but they haven't got games on Thursday and again on the Sunday.
"It could have been quite easily been moved but for the decision to screen Arsenal v Liverpool on the Wednesday."

He added: "That's the support you get for trying to put out your strongest teams in as many competitions as possible.

"If I was Carling, I would question the people running the competition."

Fcuk em. Put the reserves out. Let the Yids or Shiteh win it. League and Europe League this year IMO and we're even stretching in those two.

Nobody cares. It doesnt even get you into Europe anymore does it?

Man Utd are also playing Sunday and Tuesday but I guess they'll just whack their reserves out against Barnsley. It's going to be a tough three games for us but we should just look at it as a challenge. Draw-Win-Win would be nice :)

I think we should knock the Carling cup on the head and rest players.

Baines is going to be burnt out by January. Rodwell's already knackered. Neville's not gonna be fit by the new year.

If we had a full squad I'd say go for it. But I think we've been forced to maybe put a weak side out. Moyes better realise this or face a poor run in towards the business end, and more injuries due to tiredness.

Would be funny if our reserves beat the mighty Spurs.

Spurs have the England B team for reserves and our reserves rarely beat anyone.

I'd give the Yak, Coleman, Gosling, Mustafi, Neil, Heitinga, all a run. Would put Distin at left back to rest Baines.

Don't you like Carlo Nash KB:lol:

Agree with that 100%. Even the supremely cautious Benitez stuck Martin Kelly in to gain his debut in a crucial CL game. He came through with flying colours.

Time to stick these lads in and see what we have on our hands.
