Moyes on World Cup

Apparently he was not happy that Pienaar was playing centrally today. Kept saying that he needs to go wide...as he does for us

Dont know how Moyes can say that after last years Confed Cup where Pienaar bossed the whole tournament in that position. In any case, Pienaar went wide in the second half last night with zero effect. Ergo: the movement of the players around him (and especially ahead of him) was shocking - that's why he had an anonymous game.

The conclusions Moyes draws sometimes baffle me. It shakes my belief in his ability to do a great job with the players we now have at the club.

one day the club will see sense and sack our 'three times winner of manager of the year award' Moyesie and install Davek whose qualifications include sitting in front of a computer screen all day eating crisps and trying to sound knowledgeable about football.

Harsh, but fair.

He has a point though.

Moyes is the last person qualified to offer opinion on Pienaar's performance.

In fact, I'm dreading this season now Moyes has been outed by DaveK.

I have to say that using the old ' he's a manager and your not ' argument is a bit unfair. Davek has enough football knowledge as a fan to form an opinion, and Moyes isn't always right either. What Davek says does actually hold water, like it or disagree with it.

Pienaar bossed the whole CONFED tournament?

Not sure that statement is accurate.

He was great in the confederations, and I personally thought he was the best player at the tournament.

Ok, he dominated the game against Brazil, and was the equal of any Spanish midfielder he faced in the middle of the park. Two big tests in the engine room he more than passed with flying colours. The point is, Moyes is talking out of his arse if he thinks Pienaar cant do an equally good job centrally as out wide.

I'll give Moyesie the benefit of the doubt here and assume he was just protecting Pienaar from criticism on this occasion.

Thanks BB.
