To those who say Martinez will bring attractive continental football to Goodison Park: how attractive do you find watching Everton get beat? I don't know about you but I feel like I've been kicked in the balls when the opposition scores. I'd get used to it if Martinez comes in. His defensive record is shocking.

Far too many people giving players credit but players need discipline, strategy, teamwork, excellence. A good manager would've done better than Martinez did at Wigan. It's as simple as that.

He would be the undoing of the good work of the last ten (admittedly woeful in terms of silverware) years.

Presumably either Ralf or Vitor are Moyes' recommendations. We'd be wise to listen to what he has to say.

But everyone says our defence is sound and the attack is where work is needed surely that supports the Martinez appointment -

Don't get me wrong, I like the chap and would support him if appointed, but there's something about him not wanting to take some responsibility in getting Wigan back up that irks
Some of our fans are clueless, Everton is a massive club who is looking for a manager, he might not get this offer from us again? he owed wigan **** all, he given them a present in the F.A cup.

Martinez says he is not good enough to take a team out of the Championship.

If he is not good enough to do that then he is not good enough to take us into the CL.

Right???

And have you never said things like that to get out of a job or nicely tell a boss you want to move on to better things.

Also think the wording has been probably lost in translation a little. There's a difference between...

"I'm not capable of taking the team back up"
And
"I'm not the man to take us back up"

Presumably either Ralf or Vitor are Moyes' recommendations. We'd be wise to listen to what he has to say.

The Ralf part of that makes sense to be fair, only a few month ago Moyes was looking over at Germany all dreamy eyed about the way they do things.

None of us will know why he left or what he believes in. We cant judge him on that cos Managers seem to be leaving Swansea after a couple of seasons, Landrup will go next year. Why pick that line out? why not look at the work he done at Swansea
Because he knows himself better than anyone and if he doesn't thnk he is good enough then why should we?

But everyone says our defence is sound and the attack is where work is needed surely that supports the Martinez appointment -

everyone? dubious.

But this presumes that with a new manager the defence will somehow miraculously be preserved in aspic as a good defense whilst Martinez improves us going forward. What is more likely is that thanks to playing 3 up top and 3 in defense we'll ship goals like, well like Martinez's Wigan.

No ta.

I have read most of this thread mate and no one has said that. Many, including myself, just didn't rate Moyes as highly as others do.

Fair enough but some here did say they can't stand Moyes because of his boring tactics and failure to win a cup. Trying to discredit Moyes and praise Martinez just because he won a cup and ignored all his other witnesses. Or they are quick to look for excuses to cover up his responsibility on relegation.

Yes he is on a tighter budget he sells top players at the end of every season for 15 million + and finds other forien player for a few million - when Charles insogbia was a star player at Wigan sold to Villa where he looks average at best under Lambert Martinez had him playing all over the front line - if bungling bill goes for the stressed out of work German with a local assistant like Stubbs or Weir expect relegation ! Martinez needs to arrive with his own backroom staff & his chief scout & lets have a clean sweep!
