Sources today including the Liverpool Echo newspaper have claimed David Moyes is on the brink of completing his second signing of the summer by landing experienced Swiss midfielder Johann Vogel.

Reports suggest he will complete his move to Goodison Park by tomorrow.

The 30-year-old midfielder who Manchester Utd tried to sign last season has an impressive CV, playing for the likes of AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven and Real Betis and has been capped 89 times by his country and would bring a wealth of European experience for Evertonians upcoming UEFA cup campaign.

Glad we are looking but do we need another defensive midfielder holding type player as we have cars, neville,de silva, jagielka and yobo who can play there.

Bear in mind we shall be losing Yobo for the Africa Cup which may mean Jag will drop back so a hole to fill!! However it is the midfield that we do need a little more cover so if this a free then worth a punt to increase squad numbers and experience. Only time will tell if the story is true.

As he's free, fair enough as he's obviously a decent player with a lot of experience. As has been said though we do have a lot of cover for central midfield. I'd much prefer a wide midfielder or a left back.

:shakesbooty:

Pretty good, that gap in the middle is about to be plugged, AC, PSV, and betis are all good clubs, so there is a high possibility the man knows how to retain the ball as well as pass it properly.

Free is the icing on the cake. Well in that man moyes.

Having some extra defensive minded personel is good IMO, they need the rotation with the schedule this season plus late game subs to protect all those 1-0 leads!

30 years old, still gto a good 4 years in him, on a free is good, improves the size and ability of the squad etc...however if we sign him we have 4 defensive mids. He seems good though, like arteta can use both feet with ease!

once again moyes proves that he knows what he is doing.

Kenwright and Moyes for knighthoods.

This one is ace. I have seen him play a fair bit and he's stood out.

Calm composed, a good eye for a pass and European experience. He has the ability to dictate the tempo of a game and put his foot on the ball when needed, a useful thing in Europe. And he's free, which I find hard to believe.

I would have liked to have had him about seven years ago but will be a good addition to the squad.

Another bargain brought to you by the ginger one.

OOOO, you guys are getting me all excited about Vogel! However, does anybody remember how our last Swiss player fared?

Marc Hottiger anybody????

(I am in no way shape or form suggesting he will be as 'good' as Hottiger, just pointing out they are both Swiss)

:)

Go Moyes!

Good signing this. I wonder if this confirms that DM is now considering Neville primarily as a fullback (which IMO he should be - LB or RB)?
