Got a week or so to kill towards the end of August, and looking at possibly doing a multi-city break, two adults and two kids.

Looked at Budapest as there's a few options from there like Prague, Bratislava, Vienna. Would be looking to travel with public transport, train preferably, but bus if necessary.

Just wondered if anyone had done anything similar or could recommend anywhere.

You’ve got it sorted there. Vienna and Bratislava are 50 mins away by train and both interesting in opposite ways.

Heartily recommend all three. Bratislava is the smallest and the old town is minute compared to Prague, but I really liked it. Some cracking bars. Look outside the old town as well.

Vienna and Prague are both stunning. Vienna is the most expensive without shadow of a doubt.

I loved Bratislava. So pretty and so small. We took the bus to Vienna and spent a day there. That was beautiful but I liked Bratislava better.

Budapest is great mate, especially in the summer. Woman are dead fit as well, but looks like you're married. There is a direct train to Prague from there and takes about 3 hours I think.

Yeah, we did similar but got the train to Vienna. Both Austria and Slovakia use the Euro, but the price difference between the two is quite mad. I think I probably spent more in one day in Vienna on food and drinks, museum fees etc than the 2.5 days in Bratislava lol.
