Hi All

First may I say thank you to the mods for allowing me to post this.

I have a book coming out this Thursday 15th January called 'Merseyside At War' It's focus is Merseyside people during the two world wars, telling a number of individual stories.

If anyone is interested, then you should be able to get the book from Waterstones, WH Smith, Blackstones and other book shops. Amazon also have it and it will be out as an E Book on google.

Not really. I know someone who is researching the players and the staff from the wars for a book, so I left it alone. It does mention Thomas Herbert McIntosh though.

Do you write for a living or just a hobby mate?

I run a wartime website that has took off really well. Have helped the BBC with a number of items, and was part of the team that went to France to film the WW1 Antiques Roadshow WW1 edition. I never thought of writing a book. The publishers contacted me and asked would I do it, the second book has now been ordered. I just hope people like it. I have no idea how it will go down. They may throw it at me in the street and shout rubbish ha ha.

Hope it goes well! My grandad was from liverpool. Went up the beaches on dday and met my nan who was a French hotel maid in occupied France. Kicked some nazi backside and took her back home to liverpool where she remained for te final 60 odd years of her life whilst never losing her French accent even a bit. Always thought that was an ace story so will be interesting to see other stories like that.

Bloody unchecked immigration. Going over there, stealing their women.

Sounds intriguing. My grandfather -- the Blue who died 31 years ago Saturday -- transferred to the Royal Paratroops from the Royal Engineers and was one of the first out of the planes on June 6, 1944. Didn't like to talk about it much, though. Wish my dad was still around as I'd buy that for him for his birthday. Might even get one for myself, actually.

I always remember my mum telling the tales of Liverpool during WW2 and the night the Blackstock Gardens air shelter got bombed ( she was in it) while my dad was in the Royal Navy......... Just seeing the book cover brings back those incredible stories.....I shall be buying it for sure.....
