Fancy 'designer' restaurant food.

Does it annoy anyone else? About 10 forks and spoons more than you need - other wierd cutlery and just as baffling menus.

'what grinds my gears'

good effort. in terms of fancy cutlery, work from the outside towards the plate per course (bit general but you should be ok - recalls jasper carrott stand up)

rant.

Its mainly the food that does my head in.

Things like this (escolar - which I was informed was just white tuna) as a main;

It's all about taste and elegance.

Not just stuffing your face and getting so full you have to undo your belt.

I agree though, sometimes it's so far up it's own arse it can taste the toothpaste.

I had a large donner kebab with extra chilli sauce last night......

I'll be honest and admit that I dont mind paying top money for a good food and wine.

Its probably something to do with my ghetto guilt and trying to better myself.

To summarise: Im a bad ted.

It has nothing to do with the cost, it has all to do with quantity. I have wined and dined in Mayfair but never once found value for money. In some cases less than average food is delivered in below par quanties and that sucks.

Best value I've had was at a Heathcotes, and they aren't cheap

Lills chippy rules FACT

If you want quantity then you would go to the pub for a meal Monty, its not always about quantity. [Poor language removed] me, I could do with less quantity at the minute too.

ergo danny is right to rant if you consider paying over the odds for anything that does not meet your requirements:P

good quality food, cooked in a good quality manner, with good quality service, coupled with some good quality wine is an absolute winner. especially if you are trying to impress.

trivia: i have seen a raymond blanc menu (he has some restaurant in cheshire) and one of the prices for one main was forty two and a half quid.

there are some piss takers in the business.
