About a two weeks ago, my son, Ethan, decided he could read. He is 3 1/2 years old. He now can read about 30 words (rumor has it, that is 20 more than chico ;) :P ). He has always loved drawing and colouring, and has done some great pictures of cars (thanks to my brainwashing ;) ) and people doing things like flying kites. Then 2 days ago, like the reading thing, he just decides to himself he can write. He goes up to Lisa and says "Look mum, I wrote my name!!" Sure as [Poor language removed], there it is, E-t-h-a-n, plain as day on the paper. In addition to that, he knows his alphabet and can count to 26 (for some reason he just stops there, but I suspect he can go higher). And he signs (in ASL, not the British one). He knows about 200 signs, about 180 more than I know! He arguably operate the PC better than me :P (he is always unlocking some secrets in Windows, and as you guys have seen, sometimes he posts on here (and the scary thing is his posts make more sense than mine)

It really just boggles my mind how quickly he picks things up. When you guys have kids, it is deffo my advice to treat them like a sponge---they soak up everything they see.

Now if only I could make him eat properly.......

He was a late talker so we started teaching him so we could communicate with him effectively. And while we where doing that he started talking and the signing kept on going. And he is doing great at both now!

brilliant he has taken on (and you have prompted) signing, its a good skill that there is always a market for.

counts to 26, how many letters in the alphabet are there ;)

left or right handed... footed ?

leading by example, he sees his father on the computer and wants to do and does the same.

when i was a young kid, i used to follow my dad round, i still get a bollocking now :D

When he was younger he drew with both hands, but now he favours his right. Same with the feet, he kicks a (his size 4) football mainly with his right, but tries on his left too.

I am right-handed, but an ambi-kicker. I learned to kick with my left when my right was injured, and found out my left is slightly more accurate!!

you have that football pitch, its on YOU to help develop that left foot.

good left footers are worth their weight in platinum.

(not being pushy)
