The bottom line is that no Everton mangaer has trusted him...and there's a reason for that.

Coleman is surely straight back in not long after the international break.

Mate that just doesn't make sense....you think he has massive potential but yet admit he is very shakey defensively? The lad is a defender. Or supposed to be. He is championship standard at best in my book but would be delighted to be proven wrong.
It does make sense, you just don't want it to.
The problem on here as always with young players is that some of our fans make their mind up very early and don't want to be proven wrong.

Look how bad Coleman was in those first few games when he signed from Sligo.
The loan to Blackpool was the experience he needed and took him up to the next level.

I'm not saying this will definitely be true for Patterson, player development is very unpredictable, but straight up writing him off at this age is equally as premature just so you can say "Told you so" if he eventually flops.

I've already proven that not to be the case once before:

He’s inexperienced, he’s still got a lot to learn but I believe he has the potential to be an excellent full back. I do believe that they way that Dyche has set up the team since the start of the season didn’t help him or the other full back. Now the midfield seems to be functioning properly it miraculously seems to have eased the pressure on the full backs and the whole backline in general.

That just reinforces my point. He's been played, so there's no sense that he hasn't had his opportunity, but he hasn't taken it. Here we are now with Coleman not available and he;s still losing his place...to a 38 year old who'd been switched from LB to RB.

That's why I said it's the bottom line...and it is.

This lad doesn't have it. He just doesn't.

Why did Dyche replace Harrison with Patterson today?

We were 3 - 0 up and crusing

Patterson and Harrison played together really well against Villa in the cup

If there's ever going to be a good opportunity to see if they can replicate that in the prem then it was today

Maybe Harrison was tired, picked up a knock?

He has elements of what it takes, but his stamina to work that role of getting up and down isn't there, and most of all his positional sense and ability to snuff out danger is almost non-existent.

I see why people want to believe in him but the bald facts are that no Everon manager can put him in and trust him to perform.

Its why he should have been loaned out for the last two seasons.

Well you should be delighted Charlie, because you're proven wrong every time you post pal.

Meant to ask you Dave, do you think Garner should still be at right-back ?
