Just watched England play the rugby and it was an ok game i guess (considering they were chasing an egg). But at the start, every single player sung the anthem with heart and soul.

During the england football game in spain, only 1 or 2 player sung our anthem. Why? I think its a major thing to play for your country and you should have some pride and sing as loud as you can. Fans love to see it. If i was in charge, if you didnt sing, you wouldnt play again!

Harsh or more pride needed?
 
I've never taken taken to the Queen or any of her family, so I would find it difficult to sing the national anthem. If the UK, or my adopted country Denmark, were republics, I would be all for national pride.
 
I also noticed that SWP started singing when the camera went on him but didnt appear to know the words. Dont blame him though.

I dont see it as liking the queen or not liking the queen but just some pride in being English.

I can see your point though, the royal family do fu*k all!!!!!
 

Probably because showing any kind of national pride is seen as being racist.

Unless Gary Neville has convinced them all to be socialists.

All a bit silly to be honest. There was a Domino's pizza place in Brum that went Halal because there was a large muslim population. I'm fairly sure both muslim and non-muslims wouldn't want them to do that.

Bleeding heart liberals. It's all their fault. Allegedly.



Or maybe none of them care about playing for England and just see it as a slightly irritating distraction.......
 
It's a respect thing. they play for the passion, not for the pay packet.



Saying that, I was lifted slightly by our lads today. End of the day, The Taffs are near enough the best in Europe.

The royal family is the national anthem, which is why I don't particularly like it. But I agree with sentiment of your post. It would just be nice if the national anthem was about Britain, rather than a family that I don't like.
 
Wasn't there talk of making the National Anthem of England 'Jerusalem'?

Seeing as we don't officially have a national anthem (England that is) I think we should have something else that doesn't alientate us normal non-royal folk.

I for one would like the rugby boys version, 'Land of hope and glory' is a proper anthem.

I would sing till my eyes bled.

This should be made mandatory.

Present anthem is British, not English.

I am proud to be both English and British, but we need our identity back.
