Neville Southall's New Book

I'll get it. But I wasn't terribly impressed with his autobiography. It was quite boring to read in the end. Not sure I even finished it to be honest..

I enjoyed it myself, he certainly wasn’t a big fan of Mike Walker ha ha. His thoughts on his time at Stoke (I didn’t even know he went there) were interesting particularly the way the club treated Chris Kamara.

I liked his autobiography, he mentality was "we won lots yes but it could and should have been more". I love that in a footballer.

The defining image I have of Southall was from a scene in Howard's Way. Right after winning the league title the lads are in the changing room stripping off and putting away the booze. Nev meanwhile is sat quietly having a cup of tea and smiling to himself. Also, after winning the cup in '95 he drove himself back home after the game rather than stay in the team hotel and party. He even stopped on the M6 to help some United fans who'd broken down!

Saw a headline this morning that said “former Everton and Wales goalkeeper diagnosed with terminal cancer” and my heart dropped about a foot.

Awful thing to happen to anyone obviously, and goes without saying that my heart goes out to Dai Davies’s family, but I’d be lying if i said my first emotion on clicking into the article wasn’t relief.
